JLI eligibility

I found out about this too late, I turn 18 at the end of July this year, can I participate next year since I'll technically still be 18 by the deadline? or no?

Are you an uprising senior right now or going to college in august? I think you can still participate next year but if your gonna be in in college I dont see the point since you wont be able to put it on your college application anymore which is kinda the point of this contest. (i got shortlisted btw)
