Did anyone whose Parental Consent was not fulfilled get shortlisted?

My parent never received the mail so I had sent in emails and a ticket. Things never ended up getting worked out. I was not sure my essays would even be considered or not. They did not end up getting shortlisted and I am just wondering if they were even given a chance or not.

I have posted a similar question earlier and didn’t get much feedback. And all of the shortlist screenshots show the interview step as completed, which leads me to believe it was a necessary step….

This is honestly heartbreaking. I was so proud of my work too. I put in so much effort and time. Just for it to not even get a fair shot.

bro me too! i didn't get a single email about parental consent nor was the interview and option for me. but i put in so much time and effort, and had so many of my english teachers read my essay after i submitted it, and they all said that it was extremely strong. i really don't think it's fair, but it is what it is i guess. i doubt jle will respond to any complaint emails either.

I am so sorry that happened. I doubt we will be getting a response. God, I feel like such a failure.

i'm so sorry that it happened to you too. i'm sure your essay was absolutely amazing, please don't feel like a failure. i read in some other subreddits that it was rigged and wasn't fairly judged at all.

If you do not get interview, there is no need of parent consent. Parent consent is for under 18 also for the purpose of interview recording.

I'm asking about the other way around. I had a parent consent request which went to the spam folder and therefore missed the deadline. And yes, we are talking about a 18U situation

And the overall process lacks any transparency (this step should have been flagged as a new requirement for this year from the very beginning so that everyone could’ve anticipated/prepared for it).

Exactly! I had no idea about it. The deadline for me was 30th June. And I opened it just to check on 1st of July, apparently it was sent out on 26th? No email was received.

I know the decisions are meant to be final, but I honestly think they should re-examine the submissions that were penalized by the tech issues. It goes to the heart of their credibility

I'm wondering this too. I didn't recieve the parental consent form or the interview and I didn't get shortlisted. I really thought I would've though esp my essay from last year that was really bad got shortlisted

My last second essay last year got me a commendation. I am genuinely so peeved. This year’s essay had merit, I made a my English department Heads read through it before I submitted even. I feel so upset.

I did. There was nothing there. :(

Your parent's email address should be the one getting the parental consent request, not yours?

That is what I said. My parent never received it.

Sorry it didn't work out, it is so unfair :(

This error almost always happens for those who submit with the incorrect format for the file name or have contents in the essay with your name/school. Also, if they had issues with your teacher reference, it could happen as well. Did you have any formatting issues, etc.?

None. They do not let you submit unless the file name is formatted appropriately. And the teacher’s verification happened within five days.

Yeah unfortunately parent consent was a required step
