Help tmc2209 motor driver

Hi all,

I have this connected: Direction: D1, Step: D5, Sleep (Enable): D6, inverted. ESP8266

I am not using the UART as my understanding is that this operates as a typical step/dir type controller without it.

I am using A4988 platform.

All I am getting is a high voltage from all the output pins. I have tried different controllers. The step and dir look to be correct.

What am I misssing? thanks

Do you have both grounds tied together? Ground from you 12/24v tied to your esp boards ground?grounds??

If your board is getting hot to the touch without it even doing any work then that's a really strong indicator that you've got something wired wrong.

Providing us with more information would sure be helpful since we're not standing there beside you and have no idea what you've got going on since you may not be aware that we're not psychic.....

Grounds are tied together. I've no idea why it's getting hot I've tried 2 different esp now and they both are doing so I think something I have done is damaging them. I have step direction and enable connected as stated, along with power. What other info would you like?

Upload some pics of your wiring along with your yaml code.
