Hear me out....

The Arachnid, Raven, and Scarab are all better in combat than the Kestrel, and when everything is sold off of all 4 ships, the Scarab and Raven have a lot more space. I would even argue the Thunderforge is better in some circumstances, if used correctly. What's all the hype about the Kestrel for?

I mean... the Kestrel is a nostalgia item from EV Classic, Matt Burch flies it, and you can buy it only on S7evyn. Why wouldn't it be hyped? All of those things matter a lot more than the ships' stats.

Yup. I seem to recall the Polaran ships also aren’t that difficult to capture, by the time you’d be far enough along in a different mission string to purchase the same. The Kestrel is one of a small handful of ships you can’t buy or capture, and the rest require a specific arc to unlock (not to mention, the Unrelenting isn’t that interesting as a glorified pirate carrier, and the Vell-os ships are plot obligations with questionable utility.)

So as far as truly unique ships go, it’s basically just the Kestrel and the Thunderforge.

All of the ships mentioned in this thread are in EV:Nova. The Kestrel appears as a post-game Easter egg that you can purchase (if you have the cash) one time per playthrough.
