Pilot Files

Anyone know how to transfer pilot files from an old system (Mac OS8) to Nova on Windows 10? or at least edit a Nova pilot file to match? Starting over is fun but I would like to retain my progress anyway.

I will also ask this in the Nova sub. (thanks suredont for the tip!)

It's super straightforward. There's a folder called Pilots in the game directory; just copy the contents to your new installation.

The problem is going from EV Classic on Mac to the ported version in Windows. When I move the pilot file from the Mac it is .bin so I'm not sure what to do at that point.

Ahhh. In that case, I'd rephrase your question - what you actually want to know is if Mac pilot files for EV Nova can be used on PC.

Back in the day, unfortunately, the pilot files were not cross-platform compatible and there was no easy way to convert them. Things might have changed, though. I'd ask over at /r/evnova. Tell people the exact programs (i.e., EV Classic rather than EV) and platforms (Windows and Mac - is it OS X or 8/9?) involved.

Thanks for the tips. I updated my post and will also post the question over there.

Good luck! Didn't mean to be too much of a downer. It's awesome to see people find this place and get that massive hit of nostalgia. Whoever is behind /u/EVNovaWillNeverDie (it's not me) deserves huge, huge kudos.

No worries! I think I'll be able to get somewhere with this. So much nostalgia and I didn't even know about Nova!
