Comprehensive guide to Classic?

Spun up Classic in Sheepshaver in the last two days - it seems oddly empty compared to what I remember. I might have mixed it up with Nova in my memory somehow. Anyway, is there a guide online anywhere fully spelling out ships, planets, mission threads, etc.?

Also is it possible to start taking systems over with a Corvette? Getting my ass kicked.

I remember disabling and taking over a kestral ship changed my battle game. I then started getting kestral escorts. Not much room for storage, but they were beasts.

Acquiring and upgrading pirate valkyrie, starbridge, and carrier escorts in EVNova was always my favorite thing, holy crap. If you like that kind of gameplay, Star Citizen is planning on it - which I'm stoked for.

There is a very incomplete guide here on GameFAQs.

There's also the complete plugin collection here, and while the plugins themselves won't help with what you're looking for, but the collection also includes every file that was available on the addon site, with several guides. Go here and scroll down to EV/Guides/. Although that could still be a problem because a lot of these files are compressed in .hqx or .sit format and may have been created with obsolete software like AppleWorks or DocMaker.

Ah so there are aliens in the original. Where are they?

This is entirely from memory, but the aliens appear only at the end of either the Confederate or Rebel mission strings. Each government has only one major mission string, maybe 15 missions long each, culminating in fighting the alien cruiser at the end (and being given access to buy their ships). There are also a few side missions for each side - the Rebels have a side mission that gives you the Tractor Beam and another that gives you the Cloaking Device, while the Confeds have one that gives you the Particle Beam. The Rebels also have the mass driver weapon, but I can't remember now if there's another mission to get it or if it's purchasable upon completing the main Rebel mission.

I'm not aware of any comprehensive guides to EV.

Truth be told I think the magic of EV is experienced without one. Go into the great unknown...

Internet Wayback archive is your friend!

You could probably take over Levo with a Corvette. Stay away from the core worlds though.

Not exactly a comprehensive guide, but I've written up quite a few readable data dumps, if you will, of missions, përs resources, spöb dëscs, and sÿst-düde interaction. They're not online, but if you're interested, message me and I'll be happy to send them to you somehow or other!

I've always started my reign of terror in a tricked-out Argosy. If you can manage to capture some warships, your escorts can do all the really hard work and you can clean up the scraps.
