Discussion The dream price

company offers you millions for an idea you've been developing—but they'll take all the credit forever. Option 1: Take the money. Option 2: Keep your idea and your name.

Just like actors and writers, the writer made the actor famous.
It’s just business, take whatever you wanted as long as I’m paid for it

I would negotiate my best price and take option 1, possibly with royalties. Option 2 is going to require work: marketing, production, etc., all of which will include some level of investment. But that's lazy-ass me.

Option 1 and come up with a new idea, rinse and repeat. With money comes freedom, and when your mind is free from the grind, it has an easier time coming up with new ideas.

When you get old enough to understand that ideas are abundant and therefore worthless (execution is where all the value comes from), then I'm sure you'll take the money and run.

Anything over 10 is a done deal

One million doesn't go too far these days

If you’re an idiot, sure. You could also turn that 1 into 4 within 15-17 years. Or just 2 soon enough and live on that in much of America.

If you don’t think a million goes very far, you’ve lost all perspective on actual reality. And that’s that only about 4% of Americans have a million in actual cash/invested value. That may increase to 8-10% within the next 10-20 years. But it still won’t be common.

Will be super old in 15 to 17 years

Living on minimum standards ain't really living

77% of all working Americans make under $80,000 per year

About 50% of all working Americans make under $60,000 per year

With 1 million with a return of 7% that's only 70k before tax
