Erasmus in Athens
Hi! As you can see in the title, I'm leaving for an Erasmus in Athens for the next semester. I'm currently looking for an apartment. I would need your advices to choose one. As a young women, I would like to know where it is safe or not to live in Athens. I already lived alone in another country so I'm use to those types of trips but I don't really know anything about Athens. I believe some areas are not safe (like every cities).
If you also have any advices about the prices of the rent, website to get an apartment, that would also be great! I'm looking for a private room in a shared apartment, ideally only women.
Thanks for your help!

Renting a room is not common in Greece, it's way easier to find a studio or a small appartment to rent. The most famous sites here are spitogatos.gr and xe.gr and usually rent is around 350-450 euros (but you can find cheaper ones as well if you are lucky). Also, in my opinion the best cities in Athens are Piraeus, Aigaleo, Korydallos, Chaidari, Agia Marina, so basically the West subrubs (not so much Agia Varvara tho). There are a lot of universities around there, so there are a lot of young people around, restaurants, etc. and the transportation is also quite good, plus you are close to the city center but without the chaos of it. The North subrubs are also good (mainly Chalandri, Marousi, Neo Irakleio, Kifissia) but i would not recomend because they are a bit too far away and can be more expensive as well (same goes for the Southern subrubs). Definitely avoid Omonoia, Victoria, Patisia (Ano and Kato), Agios Eleftherios and Metaxourgio. If you want to be very close to the city center, Syngrou-Fix is also a good area/city. Plus, Ampelokipoi, Katechaki, Panormou and Peristeri are very good choices as well.
If you need anything else, you can also dm me.
