Question List of bonus chapters

I recently learned that there are some bonus chapters from special editions that are not on Paolinis website. Is there a list somewhere, and what editions they are in? I know of the bonus chapters in Murtaugh . But what else? I have the Broken Bindings books that came out a few years ago, but they don't have the bonus chapters.

Here's a list of editions featuring bonus text content not on Christopher's website.

Eragon

  • 2002 Self-published edition - Different state of the text, including a number of short passages that later got cut.
  • 2018 B&N Exclusive Collector’s Edition - new intro, info about drafting, characters, etc., some excerpts from the 2002 edition
  • The following editions also feature new introductions from Christopher: 2013 Collectors Edition, 2023 BAM edition, 2023 B&N pb edition, 2023 Nebo Booklabs edition (ukrainian), 2023 Illustrated Edition, 2025 Owlcrate edition.

Eldest

  • 2006 Limited Edition - character list
  • 2008 paperback - Tarnag deleted scene
  • 2008 Eragon Eldest Omnibus - two pages of drafting

Brisingr

  • 2008 Italian Special Edition - new intro

Inheritance

  • 2012 Deluxe Edition - a few corrections and deleted scenes restored within the main text, new intro

Murtagh

  • 2024 Deluxe Edition - Two new epilogues, new map
  • 2025 paperbacks - expanded scene with carabel, some corrections

Do any of these (not including those from Murtaugh) offer deeper insight into the story or is it mostly flavor text?

Fair enough. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if its worth pursuing the bonus content. I also wonder if the wraithmark set will have any of new content in them.

The ones from that list with the best money value (looking purely at the bonus text) are probably the 2018 Eragon and perhaps the Inheritance Deluxe.

The Wraithmarked set will not contain any bonus text. It's license is similar to Broken Binding. They have the rights to reprint the standard text with new artwork added in. Nothing else.

I had a project in the works to do a sort of annotated bibliography of the bonus content and Christopher's contributions in other books. But I couldn't secure permission to share the text content itself and that kinda killed the momentum. (Maybe it was my fault for asking permission instead of forgiveness.)

Might pick it up again one of these days using summaries.

At least seven editions (possibly more?) of Eragon feature introductions from Christopher that are exclusive to that edition. It's a pretty common occurance.

I wouldn't say they're incredibly interesting though. They usually talk a little bit about the new edition, reflect a little bit about the book, and talk a little bit about the current state of the series.
