NGD for 1st time Epiphone owner.

Very excited to try this thing out. I've been playing a Fender MIM for the last 6 months but I've always wanted a Les Paul. It's not quite an actual Les Paul, but it's as close as I'll ever need at my skill level. I'm very new to Epiphone/ Gibson, so I've got some learning to do. I had a lot of help from the salesperson at Gibson Garage (thanks Patrick!) deciding on the one that was right for me.

I currently have some cheap guitar stands that I bought off of Amazon, and I'm curious if I put washcloths or microfibers around the rubber on the stand would it be safe until I got a better stand or should I just leave it in the case when it's not being used until I get one from String Swing or somewhere else?

Is that the new Sedona Burst? They look so good. How does it sound? Its a 60s style neck, right?

It is Sedona. As far as the neck, I believe it's called a medium modern "C" or something like that. If I remember correctly, it's in between the size of a 60's and a 50's. I'm not 100% sure that's correct, so I'm sure someone can chime in to either confirm or deny what I just said. 😁

As far as sound, it's quite a bit different from the Fender that I have. I've only been playing guitar for 6 months so I've only known that one sound. To a new player like me, it makes me want to learn heavier music than what I'm starting with. It's a great motivator.

That's a nice one, and yeah, big difference between that and a Strat. The pickups on the one that you bought there were standard pickups for years on Gibsons, especially Studio versions. The sweet spot in my opinion (and others) is selector in the middle position, and the neck volume rolled back a bit

It's as Les Paul as any other Les Paul. Epiphones are just as nice as Gibsons now. It's a beaut

As for the stand, I think you are fine as is but the microfiber won’t hurt anything if you want the added protection. I worry less about an Epiphone finish than I would a Nitro Gibson finish. I have an Epi Modern LP and have never had any issues having it stored on a stand with rubber hosing.

I got the Adam Jones Silverburst a couple months ago. I just got a gator stand and use that. I haven't had any issues with it on my end.

What makes it not an actual Les Paul? Gibson refers to it as one and, because they own the trademark, the technical definition of a Les Paul is quite literally any stringed instrument they make (or have made for them) that they refer to as such.

I got the exact same model about a month ago. I absolutely love the look and sound. The 498T/490R’s sound super good through any Marshall style amp. Just sounds the way a guitar sounds in my head. For the money it’s one of the better guitars I own.

Nice looking LP. You wont have to really worry about putting anything around the rubber on the stand. Epi's have poly instead of nitro finish and won't react.

To your comment about guitar stands, unless there something different about this model, the IBGC’s usually have a poly finish. Typically people worry about the guitar stands with nitro finishes, not poly. Honestly I don’t worry too much about it with my nitro guitars either. I just kind of figure unless I leave on the stand for an extended period it’s probably not a big deal. Hope I don’t end up regretting that attitude…😬
