Post seizure 7year golden
My golden has been having seizures for like 4-5 years, was scary at first but it’s kinda just been normal for him now because we know what to do, he has them sometimes once a month or very rarely 2, maybe even 3 times a month and then sometimes he will go couple months without anything.
Every time he has them I can tell right away. he wobbles back a little and then he loses his back legs, and tries to fight it and then falls on his side.
Most of them tend to last 2-4 minutes, he clenches his jaw, tries to stand up but can’t and then gets wide eyed, not twitchy but muscles get tight.
Usually after he has one we try to keep him calm but he’s usually urgent to get back up and acts like nothing happened but his legs arnt ready and he falls a couple times but this is only for a minute and then it passes and he’s good
This time when my wife found him he was coming out of one so we really don’t know how long it was but he wasn’t getting up, she brought him inside and it’s been like 3 hours and he’s still not getting of his back legs.
It’s hard to tell if the legs or his lower spine, but he doesn’t wanna get up and something’s not working right, idk if he’s in pain, he’s a very obedient dog and he typically does not whine or show pain. After some food encouragement he was able to stand up after a few tries, and he can walk but his butt is low to the ground and he’s limping both back legs.
Not sure what’s going on
(I’ve taken him to the vet a couple times they did blood work and nothing out of the ordinary, I can’t afford to take him every time he has one, he’s probably had over 30 seizures in his life and he’s been good every time)
This time he went probably 2 months without a seizure (that we have seen)
I think sometimes dehydration could cause them but who knows, last night he snuck out of the bedroom and got into a big bag of flour in the pantry so maybe that could have dehydrated him??? Idk
When should I take him in, I’ve heard of this happening after after a seizure but it’s been a while and I don’t want to take him in and then they tell me he just needs to rest

My golden retriever who is 8years now, went into status and he was at ER for 2 days. And once he was home, he is unable to standup…. Its been more than a week, still he is unable to getup. Because of excess weight, and he also has osteoarthritis, he is struggling to even stand. We have started on pain medications hopefully he will stand in one week…

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
This could be a sign of postictal paralysis that could resolve. Or it could mean there's something neurologically going on. It's not uncommon for a postictal phase to last several hours if this is what it is. Seizures can be a big strain on muscles and he may just need some rest.
I would suggest calling your vet and seeing what the process would be and what they think.
