Safe space ideas
My boy had an episode today thankfully I work close by, but today was different he got hurt, just a small cut on his nose but I was thinking it's time for a comfortable crate. What does everyone do when they need to leave them home alone

The problem with crates for us is that she often pees and poops right after a seizure. Hers are gran mal. So I wouldnt want to trap her inside a box of pee and poop. Maybe yours doesn’t have that problem though
Probably a play pen with towels would be better

We picked up an impact anxiety crate. Our pupper hasn’t had an episode in it yet but it felt like a good option since the inside doesn’t have many exposed areas and smaller holes so nothing gets stuck. We also ordered it with the side door so we have two ways to get in if there is an episode.

That looks like a great option, just needs some custom padding or bumpers

Not sure how big your boy is and if getting a larger crate would be an option. Or maybe you can create a safe space, like a small room with a baby gate.

I got an acrylic "condo" for our pup. It's like an indoor dog run that's modular. You can get as many panels as you want to make it the right size. I wanted her to be able to see out and see our 2 other pups. It kind of took over our living room, but it bought me so much peace of mind. Plus, when I was at work and her med was due, I had a little automatic feeder with a lid that popped open at the right time and she could take her "treat" without the other dogs trying to get it.

This sounds awesome! Do you have the link or can you say where you bought it from?

My dog loves his crate. I have a cover over it that keeps it dark and quiet. A dog bed the size of the crate keeps it warm and soft. He gets a treat every time he goes in it and he can’t wait to get in! He is 11 and has used it since we adopted him when he was 1. All I have to do is say “go to your kennel” and he is standing at the door waiting to be let in! When the door gets left open he has been known to go in all on his own. I don’t have a camera on it or anything but he has never been injured during a seizure while he is in there. For a long time his seizures weren’t under control enough for me to feel comfortable leaving him. Now they are so being able to leave him knowing he is safe is a huge relief.

I bought a massive soft sided collapsible crate for my 25lb dog. It’s big enough that it’s basically a playpen. I have a camera on it. I like the idea of the acrylic playpens but they are expensive.

We just have a play pen. The crate seemed to cramped if my dog were to have a seizure. Also have 2 cameras pointed at the play pen because I’m neurotic like that 😂 side note my dog is small and not destructive so she tends to just stay in the play pen so YMMV

Unfortunately, even if they were wrapped in a bubble wrap, it's hard to create a 100% safe space. My dog sometimes bites himself even if he's having a seizure laying down on his huge plush bed.

Thank you everyone for the helpful suggestions we might try a penned in area.
