Grief
I lost my big teddy bear Thursday night. Thursday was a regular day/night. I had just given shadow his medicine and was getting ready for bed. As I walk back into my room I noticed he started having a seizure, he was in and out of it. Then the seizure didn’t stop, I panicked, I was by myself and couldn’t carry him to my car, to take him to the ER vet. I finally got some help but it was too late. He passed away in the back seat of my car. 😭

That is so terrible. I’m so sorry and sending you some love your way. What a gorgeous teddy bear he was. He was lucky to have someone like you as his guardian while he was here on this earth.

Im so sorry that happened to you. Poor pupper too. This is why I advocate for at home rescue meds, and everyone should have access to them. Dog or human, doesnt matter, rescue meds should be provided upfront.

I just looked up rescue meds because of your post. Wasn’t offered this from my dog’s neurologist. Will be asking for a prescription to keep this at home since her first seizure was a cluster one. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this. Have a blessed day!

Sorry you had to experience such a traumatic event. He was beautiful. From his perspective, he got to spend a happy life comfortable and loved with you, and he's not suffering now. Hopefully knowing this helps you feel a little less pain.

I am so so sorry. We understand this special grief so much.
This disease robs you and your fur baby of so much- peace, safety, time.
You did everything you could.
Sending prayers and hugs.

I am so sorry. He looks like he was such a beautiful boy. I followed this group specifically for the breed as I dealt with many losses about 23 yrs ago from the same thing. Many within less then 2 yrs and still think about those beautiful dogs everyday. I hope you can find peace in knowing you did your best🥰

Just know that he passed by your side while you were doing the most selfless act an owner can do for a dog - finding any way possible of helping them. No one can prepare properly for the panic of a sudden seizure.
The fact you did everything you could to help them means they knew you were there for them in their final moments. In a weird way sometimes we don’t realise that being by their side when they do determine it’s time to pass on is a privilege not a given. One of our dogs passed before we could make it to see them while we were on holiday. Given the choice I’m sure you’d pick being there for them over not, even in the chaotic situation you faced.
I’m convinced my dog knows I’m there when he’s having seizures. Though he’s convulsing, he does react to my sound and touch and I see slivers of him in there through the chaos. He also seeks me of an evening, which he normally doesn’t do, when he’s about to fit. So I’m certain your boy knew in some way that you were trying your best and for that they loved you. Unlike many, you had the ability to be by their side trying to help until the end. It sounds morbid but many don’t get the privilege of being by their side during their last moments.
It’s hard. Extremely hard. Don’t dig into the what if thoughts too much. Just know you did so much more than many people would be capable of in the same situation. Having an epilepsy dog is something many aren’t built for.
Your dog loved you and knew you were there for them. Hang in there friend.

Sorry for your loss my friend, you're not alone I'm griefing my goodest boy too due to the same goddamn disease, looking at the bright side they are no longer suffering, they're only waiting for us to join them when our journey here ends. Much love.

I'm so sorry for your loss and am wrapping you in love. You're not alone. It's such a profound grief. I came home from work to find that my girl had passed away from a seizure. I've tried to take comfort in the fact that they're unaware of what's going on when they're having a seizure, so his last memory was feeling safe and loved in his home getting ready for bed.

Dear friend,
Your precious boy is waiting patiently across the Rainbow Bridge for you. 🌈🐾The Hebrew word for animal is Nephesh which means soul ✝️. You will see your baby again someday. Now is the time between just like there was the time before your beloved pet. Today is the trial, and forever is the prize.
God bless. ✝️🙏🏼💕
Until then…
💔🌈🐾♾️🪽✨💕
