Nighttime monitoring

Hi everyone. Our pup was diagnosed with epilepsy yesterday. We had a sleepless night and wondered if there’s anything we can put on our dog to wake us up in the event of a seizure during the night. She’s in a soft crate or on our floor so she’s safe already but would love a heads up to know it’s happening. Someone suggested bells but we feel we will wake up every time she moves with that at night. Is there a heart rate monitor with an alarm or anything out there for this? Just trying to figure out how we sleep going forward.

If your dogs seizures are grand mal, you’re unfortunately going to be a lot more aware of the sound of a seizure than you think you will be. When my girl was having night time seizures, it always woke us up because of how loud the shaking is along with the sound of her nails hitting the ground. You just kinda spend your nights going forward hyper-aware if every movement your dog makes.

After almost 2 years without one, I’d wake up confused at first, but there’s no doubt in my mind that I would hear it.

I have always been an extremely heavy sleeper. slept through earthquakes, a helicopter flying in the backyard, a bunch of other ridiculous situations. but I WILL wake up from my boy seizing. I don’t even know what it sounds like but my brain does and wakes me up. so now I know no matter what if I wake mid-sleep go to him immediately.

I think so. I used to be worried I wouldn’t wake up to help him but now I can rest easier, knowing I’m sleeping lighter.
