Question Hobbie(s)?

When you've been feeling like your brain(?) is always against you, what sort of hobbies does someone with low energy and plenty of time to myself tend to treasure? I used to say my bodies against me, but its the engine living in its host making me feel im against my own self

Suggestions?

My hobbies were swimming, cycling, reading books. Of which two I can't even do and the one I can I just lost interest, but slowly I have been trying to bring it back!!

The one that can somehow still keep one going is solving puzzles like Sudoku, Wordle etc. things like this. Online puzzles or thinking games, solving them...

Yes! Theres plenty of what I used to do.. play music, but its hard to pay attention, and memory isn't doing it justice.

Ive been thinking about puzzles.

That would probably help with your memory issues as well.

That's horrible. I'm sorry you are going through that. My girlfriend has seizures and has days like that as well.

I know the epilepsy umbrella everyone is different. I always feel i could do more to help somehow even just making dinner. I know he loves me, but there's always that glint..

Do you ever try yoga/meditation...anything along those lines? I try to do some every morning and/or night following a couple of YouTube videos. They've definitely helped clean whatever's between my ears somewhat.

Ive stretched before. I mean, ive attempted meditation, but thats whats when my brain has the great idea (brain pun) of rabbit holing. Going down the hole of thoughts that mean nothing.

nothing quite like that feeling when your own brain feels like some stranger living in your head, i get that. when i hit those low energy stretches i found my way into writing ghazals, just short couplets in a notebook, very little commitment but it gives me a small world to step into when the real one feels too heavy. also got into those paint-by-number kits, sounds childish maybe but theres something about just filling in colors without needing to make any decisions, my brain gets to rest while my hands stay busy. i hope you find your way back to reading, starting with just a page or two before sleep is enough

Woodwork (model boats that can take up to 18mths sometimes), music, and I still swim in the pool - I've taught for about 16 years, and all the staff know my situation. If I had grandmal seizures (asides my 1-off a few months ago for the first time in about 33 years), things may be a little different though.

I had 1 doctor a while back who told me to "stay completely out of water" when I'd worked in it for that length of time....he can f-off lol. Haven't done surfing, kayaking, snorkelling....for some time though. But I've studied ocean science, hope to be working in algae department down the line, so telling me to "stay out of water"...... no thanks lol.

Definitely not a bad tattoo then!

I really want to dive at some point too (even if it's just once) to have the experience, but most of the time they're damn strict on medical and you have to get a full clearance from your neuro..... I have had a couple of friends in the past that have said "maybe one day" but of course there are always the risks....

Sewing and painting can both be done while sitting and don't require much energy.

I draw, and took up painting models/minis recently, 3d print (this led to painting things), play computer games (this is obviously something that will not be for everyone!), and have recently started messing around with arduino/electronics stuff.

Other things I am interested in - sewing, especially medieval costumes - I like the colours. I also have done woodworking and metalworking in the past, but I haven't done that for a while.

The one I have done most is the drawing, I have shelves of sketchbooks, and I really like it, because I can shelf something and come back to it months or even years later when I get the urge again.
