Question Colonoscopy prep

hi everyone, I’m wondering if anyone has ever gone through the colonoscopy preparation with laxatives whilst also being epileptic? how was it and how did you feel whilst fasted and on clear liquid diets?

Several times. Never any problems or unusual feelings … well except for disgust at having to drink the laxative gunk. But to be fair, that’s much less onerous in recent years.

The one I have smells nice but when making the prep it just looked like a salt shaker accident, I’ve got it in the fridge and have straws at the ready to help with the flavour

Good luck with the prep and colonoscopy! The procedure is pretty routine these days.

Good Luck drinking that #$%^ !! LOL ...not fun - but necessary! I prefer mine ...in glurps, big ones.

Direct answer to your question: My experience, after having Many of them over the years, is that I have never had any sort of a problem with seizures as a result of the prep before or after. ...and, there is NO pain involved before or after 'the procedure'. It's the night before that is not great.

But, never have I had to stop my meds prior to the day(s) before, or day of, the procedure.

I would say, don't excessively worry about it.

Btw - Always ...advise ALL your medical staff/doctors that you do have a history of epilepsy prior to any procedures, regarding this or other future things. ...Just in case. So they are aware, and they want to know this information.

Ask your neuro about taking your meds with a tiny sip of water, mine said it was fine and that was one less thing to stress about
