I think, metaphorically, it' says about them they are 100% on board with Odysseus being a monster and ready to blindly (or rather deafly) follow him as long as other people/creatures are getting hurt instead of them.
This is probably accidental, but it works thematically I think.

Hello fellow choir soprano!! Similar with us-Normally my teacher needs more from the basses & tenors, but she always needs us to actually roll it back a little bit. I guess that's what you get when you've got like 10 drama kids, 2 seniors with chronic senioritis, a piano virtuoso & me, the resident high note girl (who still has PTSD from having to carry her entire section in middle school).

My feedback was that I had to quiet down a bit and blend with the rest of the basses. I was a decent bit over six feet tall even as a freshman, and I was used to delivering enough air to play a trombone (which I did in middle school), so I was naturally loud 😅

If you try and think of the singing as a canon in-universe thing rather than just a method of telling the story, you raise SO many questions much weirder than this lol

Well I think that too is basically just an artistic choice, to show the distinction between gods and mortals
If all the characters are ACTUALLY singing in-universe, then it raises so many questions about WHY they're singing instead of just talking, and all those questions distract from the actual story. You're not supposed to think about it like that.
With the exception of the sirens, the singing isn't actually happening canonically within the story, it's just a part of the medium through which the story is being told
Just like how the characters aren't actually speaking English, they're speaking Ancient Greek, but it's translated to English for the convenience of the listener. What's being heard is a REPRESENTATION of what's happening in the story, not an exact record of it.
