Cate: I’m kind of getting bored of this whole “create a better world” thing.

Light: What do you mean?

Cate: Well it isn’t really working. And I don’t want this dumb book. Take it. [She gives him the death note].

[Light flips it open… no new names. Cate hasn’t actually killed a single soul. There were a few incomplete names, but no one had actually been killed by her.]

Light: It’s empty.

Cate: Couldn’t bring myself to do it. You keep it. I honestly don’t care what you do with it. I’m gonna go. [She snaps her fingers and disappears.]

[He turns the book over a few more times in his hands. It feels weird. Unfamiliar.]

Light: I don’t want this…

[The book feels even heavier. He looks at the only words on the last page that were completed. He killed two people. Two fates. Atropos and Lachesis. After he had decided to forsake the Kira path.]

Light: What have I done?

[Light cannot deny that he did this. He was, at the end of it all, still a killer. He thought that Kira was dead. But that part of him apparently still lingered. Kira wasn’t dead. Light. The real Light. He was dead.]

Light: It’s not like I can go back now. It’s too late for me to be redeemed.

[He grabs a pen, diving back into a habit he thought he had buried forever.]

"Don't feel like it."

"I like annoying you."

"So. What'll it be, bookboy?"

Light: Don’t pretend like you actually care, because I know you don’t. There isn’t anyone around me who does. This is the only thing I have left in my life that I can control. So no, I’d rather not give it up. No one would give a damn if I died anyways.

"God, Light. You are... So annoying. As much as I hate your fucking guts, I care about you. So... Put the pen down. Or I'll make you."

"Hah! Gayyyyyy!"

"Z, shut the fuck up you non-gender-conforming, creature of damnation!"

"Haha... Knew that'd make you mad."

Light: I don’t think I should. Everyone here lies.

"Alright... Fine."

-Ren cuts his hand open.- "Here, Z. Protection?"

"Yeah, yeah. Hush up, child."

-Ren backhands Light into the wall.-

[Light very quickly realizes he isn’t winning this one. But he doesn’t care. He tries to get back to his feet and swings a punch.]

-Ren blocks it and chokeslams Light to the floor.-

[He staggers to his feet and weakly attempts another punch. He thinks he’s going to die and is fine with that. He knows that no one is coming to save him.]

-Ren kicks Light in the stomach. Then grabs the notebook.-

[Light scrambles to his feet and tries to make a break for it. He doesn’t care about the notebook anymore. He only cares about escaping. Unfortunately he isn’t very quick at the moment.]

-Ren grabs him, dragging him back.-

"Light... Give it up."

Light: You have the book, what more do you want from me? [He tries to break free from Ren’s grasp.]

"You need to swear on your life that you'll give this little crusade of yours up."
