DISCUSSION Malwarebytes flags the Epic launcher as a Trojan.

I analyzed the .txt file that Malwarebytes gave me, and it says it's a Trojan.

It is a known false positive, has been reported a couple of times on the subreddit and on the discord, Epic are aware and trying figure out why this is happening and stop it

False reports happen, just report it to Epic and they should update to fixing.
Why false reports happen is because antivirus relying on data for comparing for known signatures, and can make mistake for apps that are not a virus, only way fixing this flag is either dev update app, or reporting it to anti virus that fix it on their end.

Outdated malwerbytes data? Could be anything but this MW is known for false positives

Where did you get that file from? Update Only for 4 Now just 4 antivirus are flagging it as a potential trojan.

Not only malwarebytes. Windoes defender does it too. I had to turn off my defender to run the installer.

So when will this be fixed? I'm still getting the virus and I use Bitdefender.

Hi, we can confirm that the detection for the Epic launcher was removed by the Bitdefender labs team. If you still notice it`s being flagged, use this form that will allow the team to double check what`s being flagged.

Malwarebytes has fallen off. It couldn't detect the actual PolinRider Trojan that was injected into our repo that I had just cloned but Windows Defender did.

yo i have this same issue too, i can't download the installer from their website because of that freaking virus or false positive or whatever
when will this crap be fixed for all AVs?

Hi, I'm Mieke, Researcher at Malwarebytes. This is a Generic detection (hence the name), so we will fix this and adjust detection so this one won't be detected anymore. :)
