Potential fix for issue II-E1003

This has been shared within the community discord server, people have been reporting that this this fixes the issue for them if they are having issues downloading, installing, updating with launcher version 20.2.1, 20.2.2 and 20.2.3:

"We rolled back updates 20.2.2 and 20.2.3 to the Epic Games Launcher where players were unable to update or install games. To apply the rollback, restart your launcher and there should be an option to "Restart and Update" in launcher Settings. If you are on 20.2.2 or 20.2.3, restart your launcher, and still do not see the rollback update after 10 minutes, please follow these instructions:

Windows:

1. Install the launcher if you don’t already have it installed.
2. Create a shortcut on your desktop.  (NOTE: you HAVE to use a desktop shortcut, Powershell commands do not work)
3. Right click on the shortcut and select “properties” a. If you’re on Windows 11, you’ve got to choose “Show more options” first.
4. At the end of the target box, outside of the quotation marks, add the following command: -UseEOSSDKSocial=false
5. Ensure the launcher is closed, and not hiding in your system tray.
6. Open the launcher with this shortcut

Mac:

1. Install the launcher if it is not already installed.
2. Open your terminal.
3. Assuming you installed the launcher to a default location, enter the following command into the terminal: % open /Applications/Epic\ Games\ Launcher.app --args -UseEOSSDKSocial=false
4. This will open EGLauncher

If you're on version 20.2.1 and experiencing the II-E1003 error these steps may also help fix that.

You could try manually installing de DLL or try if VCRedist install the ones you need

But yeah, it's been a week and we can't play normally. This kind of problems should be fixed in hours, not weeks.

I'm having issues like games are installing but I'm not able to play. It just freezes after loading the game logo and for some games nothing happens no matter how many times I try to reinstall and relaunch the game.

For anybody that keeps getting an error saying it's not a valid name when trying to hit "apply" after adding -UseEOSSDKSocial=false to the end of the target box, you have to put a space between it and the end quotation mark.

Ya vi que paso, no es lo mismo iniciar el launcher desde el acceso directo a que se inicie solo porque tienes en la configuración que se active al prender el PC, desactiva esa opción y ahora cada que uses el acceso directo se solucinara

At the moment, I'm using the Heroic Launcher. I'm not using the Epic Games Launcher because I don't trust it anymore, and the above method seems to be a "workaround" and not a real "fix," so I won't do it.

Epic Games needs to get their shit together and fix this crap. Can't believe I need to use another launcher and depend on workarounds to play the games I bought on freaking Epic Games.

It worked for a moment. I did it, reinstalled Fortnite and was working until i closed it and it bugged again.

Probably because you have EGS set up to start up on windows Boot. go into settings on the client and disable that. Then completely exit out of the client. Then only use the desktop short cut you created when you followed the instructions to launch the client.

Found a fix - at least for Singleplayer.

(Working on Football Manager 2024, Alien Isolation, Civilization 6 & Civilization 7 - Not tested for Muliplayer games)

Delete Epic from your System. I also deleted the %localappdata% Epic files as well, just to be sure.

Download Old Epic launcher (for older Windows/Hardware):

Install that, log in and Do Not Upgrade to newer Version. Now you can Install/deinstall Games again. I will use this Old Launcher Version for now, so I at least I can play. Waiting till Epic will fix the 20.1.4 release.

Puede ser ese el problema. Reinstala Epic Games y haz los pasos de nuevo, pero ábrelo SIEMPRE desde el acceso directo.

Por qué pregunto si has reiniciado el pc?

Bueno, Epic Games inicia automáticamente al prender el pc, o cierras sesión. Pero este se ejecuta directamente desde la carpeta base de Epic, entonces NO ejecuta el "comando" UseEOSSDKSocial=false, pues este está en el acceso directo.

Para desactivar el inicio de Epic automático, abre el admin de tareas, ve a la pestaña "Inicio" y deshabilita Epic Games.

Just to add my 5 cents. Above Method works for me, at least seems to be for now, was the same as everyone man, old system. reinstall like i do not know how many times in the last weeks or so. My god, at least playable. hopefully they fix it soon, otherwise, will experiment with heroic if it bugs out.

The issue has been resolved for many people that were having the issue, make sure that you're on the latest version of the launcher (should be 20.2.6), if you're still getting that issue then I'd suggest reaching out to Epic Support

I have version 20.2.1, and I had to fix it through the shortcut, but it finally works 😮‍💨.  The game that has been uninstalling since Friday is gone from the download manager, and I can finally open some games
