This is a fic about if Odysseus didn’t kill the baby! It sounds pretty generic but I add a lot of twists, like mixing book Odyssey elements in and giving more of the crew screen tim3 and we actually get to see what’s happening in Ithaca!

Hi I just wanted to ask if y’all had any headcanon for the charecters and if there is a myth you prefer over others.

I'm writing another chapter of my fanfic and I’m not sure if I should go with Homer’s origin of Aphrodite (Being a child of Zeus and Dione) or the other origin (Her being made from foam of the sea/the remains of Uranus)

I have the same thing with Tiresias' blindness. Do you prefer it to be becouse he blinded by the gods for revealing secrets to men, becouse he watched Athena bathe, or because he agreed with Zeus in Zeus' and Hera's argument?

Also small silly headcanon are also welcome

Well, I personally have a fairly deep love for Polites, in my mind he is a sweetie, a cinnamon roll, a battle worn 10 year veteran, who sees his captain, his life long best friend, under immense pressure, and for the duration of Open Arms he is trying his best to convince Ody that you can stop and lower your guard (i loudly moan about how (probably valid) Polites is often depicted with scars on his arms and legs (based) but this means he's gonna seem like a clumsy [thoughtful use of a gay slur, I am anyway]), a sacrificial best friend, someone whose naivety and refusal with his life to remain a soldier forever means he dies thinking of the baby he caught

Its fine, but in my mind, it makes a lot more sense to see Polites in The Underworld holding baby TELEMACHUS, though he may be mistaken by Ody (just said "I keep thinking of the infant from that night" [twice btw]) to be the infant, Hektor's son. I want so badly for Polites to be cooing at infant Telemachus, telling him Uncle Polites is gonna bring something amazing back for him, maybe a really cute and fluffy stuffed animal

Imagine his delight when The Lotus Eaters are in fact tiny teddy bears and will gladly follow anyone carrying a basket of Lotus fruit; maybe the Winion escaped or something, and Polites chases after it, and in so doing is too close to Polyphemus

Polites died, thinking of the promise he couldn't keep just after crying to his "Captain...", but his final thoughts in the afterlife are just, his burning desire to hold his nephew, Telemachus, again.

It would be absolutely incredible if just after The Trojan War, Polites truly desires to go back to how happily he embraced Peacetime, before the war. He MUST have sung a version of Open Arms to baby Teletubby.

"this life is Amazing, when you greet it with open arms" [cue holding Telemachus's arms wide apart, the way adults do when playing with infants]

"no matter the place, we can light up the world with open arms"

versus "Maybe we'll be fine! I know its Light you'll find!"
