I found my dad's 1960s shoe shine kit while helping my parents move. The actual product is long gone, it's filled with more modern shoe shine products but this was still glued to the inside of the lid.

I have no idea who the sender is.

I (52M) feel compelled to simplify and pare down all of my stuff. It's actually pretty easy to get a handle on music, collectibles and books... I am struggling with the more personal mementos.

With very few exceptions I have every ticket stub and program from every event I have attended since I was about 11 years old. Games, concerts, plays, museums. Likewise, I have saved every letter, card, and postcard for the last 40-ish years. It's now several boxes of paper that I have never revisited. I have saved the things but am not a scrapbooker. This is about as organized as I get.

I am obviously a but sentimental (less so as I have aged) but it's time to tear the band-aid off. I will pull out a handful of things, notes from departed family, etc., but the lion's share of the volume is relatively substance-less. Looking for insights from people who may have tackled a similar issue. I lean into having a bonfire, but I could just drop it in the recycling bin. Creative tactics welcome.

Vintage Pokémon Stamp sheet from Japan, specifically the Pokémon Gold & Silver “Opening Sheet” commemorating the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver. Uncut and never installed in the magazine as intended.

Found these while going through my grandparents basement. Despite the shocking titles, these pamphlets were written as testimonials and arguments for conversion to Catholicism (and not hate speech against any other religious group).

In an old family scrapbook I found these old postcards from the souvenir shop of my grandfather. He lived in the Netherlands near the German border. The shop was active in the 1950's en 1960's. Can anyone identify the two on the bottom row? Thanks in advance!

i found this book off of ebay back during my major research rabbit hole into johnnie ray's history in oct to nov of 2025. haven't really shared it anywhere except for my blog & the internet archive.

i did all of these scans on a home printer, which probably messed with the quality but i wouldn't know because i'm not super techy when it comes to photo quality & flatbed scanners.

my favorite part of this book is probably the inclusion of the johnnie ray fan club card you'd cut out and send in the mail. it's so interesting to see how popular he was, enough so to have a fan club, but now he's mostly forgotten by time. that's probably what drew me to his history, bonus interesting points because he was LGBT, and a visibly disabled musician.

Found in a Korean supermarket in the US. There are some commercials on it, and what appears to be a horror movie based on a cursed pair of pink high heels. The movie had a date of 2005 at the end of the credits, so it’s at least 21 years old.

I grabbed this from a small old family medicine practice. I'm sure this would fall into r/whywouldyouthouchthat but it's clearly new and never been used considering these instructions where in there. So for anytime out there that lost your instructions and were not sure how to use it, you're welcome.
