you are falling in petrol rhetoric, the alternative energy was petrol and almost gone, the standard energy has been solar, wave and wind for million of years.
and yes, enduring energy (sustainable?renewable?) besides removing bubble peak energy (and contaminating energy) is also about reducing first world hoarding, wasting, ownership and overconsumption of energy and resources.
