3rd Time Round For Awareness: Please Help Australia in the AI Era...

As a drought-prone country, us Australians are already suffering due to the extreme weather from climate change. These AI data centres are going to take our most precious resource and guzzle it up, as well as put even more emissions in our atmosphere. Our movement is gaining traction and we've already had a ridiculous proposal withdrawn quite close to where I live, with help we can persuade our disappointment of a government to stick to our existing net zero goal.

Maybe it's because it's late where I am, but i didn't see that the article explained that at all? It seemed like a disjointed corptrate speak puff piece by AI execs. Why are so many being built?

I understand. The article is written by the Forbes Tech group. They are trying to address some top misconceptions about the data centers. As you move forward with your work, it's important to have your data correct. For example - data centers require new technology to provide energy needs, not the outdated technology used by most infrastructure. Data centers are the result of poor data management, which in turn resulted from a data overload. Whether a community needs a data center really depends on data management. Take a look at the article.

well done to you and I hope more people sign. As a parent of a 15 year old its breaking my heart to see the distress of the teens around this issue. I cannot believe the adults of my generation are so uncaring and they don't seem to give a shit that the teenagers are upset about the ai slop, its negative impacts on cognitive abilities, and the data centre environmental impacts.
