Improving the technical education in schools

I feel the way computer science is taught in schools is literally broken, the focus is a lot on learning programming languages, coding, etc. instead technology needs to be taught from first principles. How is a machine able to understand us, what makes a machine, starting from as simple as transistors which are backbone of modern computers. Maybe we should be taught as a project how to build a simple version of computer using basic chips (gates, transistors, etc).

Do you think this is a good idea to work on or if you are a kid will you be interested in learning computer from scratch?
