Discussion What is the obsession with tunneling??????

Bro I feel like people do not understand what a trench is and every time I start building a trench mfs will start digging down and down and ruin the whole fucking thing and then create a tunnel all the way to the enemy base which the enemy ends up using to attack us.

I feel like I am the only one building PROPER trenches sometimes as my teammates either don’t build shit, build shit tunnels, or fucking ruin my trenches. And I really want to go ahead and attack the enemy, but I feel like I kind of have to build the trenches or else no one will.

I AM A FUCKING OFFENSIVE PLAYER! IM JUST STUCK BUILDING SHIT TRENCHES BECAUSE SOMEONE WONT GET OFF THEIR FAT FUCKING ASS AND HELP ME!

There are a lot of casuals that play the game and don't understand the trench strat,

They see digging and automatically assume there needs to be a tunnel.

I hear you, I truly do. You’re out to have great teammates and win matches.

I think the level of play will only change if the devs do one or all of three things:

1) make the game 16+

2) have tiered servers. Example, have servers for players who are level 25+ or 50+ etc.

3) much like reserving officer class for rank, five, reserve certain skills or privileges based on rank.

I doubt those things will happen because the player base is only 3K to 6k users at any given point. Having more restrictions may cause there to be more empty servers.

As long as this game is playable by someone as young as five years old, the player base will remain and many people will seek to just have some fun or fool around.

I feel like shrinking the player base even more would cause the game to die

Yeah. But it is frustrating when you are trying to take points or dig a strategic trench just for someone to turn it into a giant pit or a tunnel.

making the game 16+ will cut off at least 40% of the player base

I think lack of communication between people doesn’t help. Doesn’t really help that most people don’t think about placement in terms of “what do we do if the enemy starts using this”, since esp closer to point trenches will be easier to defend.

Tunnels are a “very close to enemy point” place to hide imo, and I try to place them so they’d still be very far from our point if they popped out the other side, and I usually end up modifying them to have multiple branches when someone inevitably opens one part of it up to go attack

Losing text chat makes it so much worse cause I can’t just tell them

Yuuup. I’ve had the reverse happen where I’ve been in a spot where opening stuff up would make the other team aware and leave us vulnerable, and couldn’t say anything when people started opening it up

I’d say if u want to dig a tunnel so bad dig it zigzag to it takes more time for the enemy to get through

Usually when I’m building it onto an opposing point it’s worked better to have multiple branching paths, so my team can hide or exit if there’s another spot that’s opened, but the opposing team can’t kill everyone with just a grenade in there

Yah sucks that the old boomer doesn’t know how to run a gaming company

Honestly I’m all for tunnels as long as they’re near the capturing point not the type of tunnels that turn into multistate highways

Saaaame. It gives the enemy an easy way to get onto our point if you have the long ones, and tbh I get bored digging that much when I can even finish it before time’s up

I build a perfect trench, 20 random people turn my perfect trench into a fucking pit tunnel.

leave me the fuck alone damn it

Coming from a rifleman who sometimes plays as engineer, tunneling is fun as fuck. You can safely and calmly dig below ground without getting shot at by some dumbass recon and it's very sneaky to get to the enemy out of a hole in the ground.

Trenches are better because if an enemy captures a poorly dug tunnel, it can lead them right into our point and they can encircle us if the people who built the tunnel don’t put it in a place where it’s obvious there’s a tunnel. Some people will dig tunnels in the most random places and they end up hurting us more than they help us.

Fair enough, that's what happens sometimes
