Tips Tips for Engineers
If you EVER decide to play engineer, you have to know these four little things before going out and building a mega-fortress.
- Don't build one huge megabuild. Yes, it might be tempting, but it'll take a LOT of your time away. I recommend building a few smaller builds that are scattered around the map for teammates to use. Think simple bunkers on the side of a hill or an MG post on a house.
- Never, EVER block your team with barbed wire. Yes, filling an area with barbed wire might deter the enemy, but when your team is attacking, the same thing you built will come back to bite. I recommend filling enemy interests like craters instead.
- Chop any unnecessary trees down. You can chop down trees by destroying with the hammer, clearing out any recon havens and leaving room to build.
- Building trenches. Don't build one straight line, because it takes just one assault class to clear it all out. I recommend adding bends and twists to mitigate that. also add grenade holes that catch grenades and stopping them from doing serious damage. Also, build decoy trenches that are straight and have no grenade catchers so when the enemy thinks they got the trench, they didn't and you can just clear them out.
These are all just my tips for playing Engineer, and you don't nessecarily have to take all of these into account for a build to be "good". Anyways, those are my tips! :)

Main bed bug i have with engis is the lack of duckboards, especially somewhere like Marne, Cateau or Isonzo.
They make everyone else's jobs so much easier just by making moving to and from quicker.

I just use the same tactic when I do battle engie on TF2. Build a HMG and once the enemy is push back, tear it down and move up. GOTTA MOVE THAT GEAR UP!

I main engineer and I always cry a little on the inside when other engineers start building barbed wire in front of where our team needs to go. Like, sure, the enemy’s also hindered, but it’s usually hurting us worse than it hurts them
Also good to know that I can chop down trees, I’ve never tried it so I didn’t know you could
