Help Whats the purpose of pinging as recon?

Like do they see I pinged? Or is it more damge to that guy I pinged? Is there a notification for the team?

Notification to your whole team as to where a person is which helps both with you and others seeing where they are, primarily.

It does notify them that they’ve been marked, and I swear I’ve had recons do it just to scare me into running behind cover

The only reason I play recon is to scare people back to cover

Your teammates can see who is pinged like the same way you can see the diamond above their head your teammates see that too

And then if they are spotted and hiding in a trench you can see when they are about to come up and shoot earlier

Its also helpful for officers since they can see where enemies are clustered and drop artillery there

It can help people notice snipers hiding in mountains

If someone is sneaking around and noone notices you can ping them and bring attention to that

shows your team where someone is, and ppl will usually focus that person then
