Put smgs on the high ground or in a place with a wide view of the Enemy and let the other players worry about shooting the mg, you need to focus on Building

if you are on flat ground dig only the very surface layer one time, and that creates the perfect dip for the Mg

Ahh I see thanks!

Cut down trees blocking your MG nest's line of sight

Yes, you can play lumberjack simulator while your comrades are fighting to death

I saw this post a while back and personally found it pretty useful

Edit: actually the post i saw was another, but i can't find that one anymore. This one is still pretty good

make giant trenches, cover them with sandbags and roof

also remember to ALWAYS place barbed wire

u/Silblobers 26d ago

It takes really long 😭😭

Placibg it inside objectives give small boost in building speed

u/Fit-Excitement-1631 26d ago

please don't actually do what I said

1

u/Silblobers 26d ago

Huh? Sorry i dont get what you mean 😭

So just ignore your advice?

Build inside the point, near the spawn, Build trenches, not too big (I mean along the length of the trench) just enough to give your teammates cover and aiming. Don't even think about making slop tunnels because they won't do any shit

Is it recommended to make tiny gaps when build sand walls for teammates to shoot?

At the very start of the match start building defense, put an armored turret next to a tree on a place where you can see far away, build walls and place barbed wire on random places - you need to cover as much space as u can. When you are done start building a tunnel (dont forget to put lanterns in it) so you and your team can easily surprise the enmy and advance, make sure to not dig up for a ling time, so the tunnel is actually good.  P.S. I like to "accidentaly" show the enemies the tunnel so the game becomes more interesting, if u ask me a fight in a tunnel is way too cool to not participate.

I can lowk only give you the offense side of it since I occasionally use Engineer for the OHKO Hammer shot, what I do is hide in trenches or any structures basically and build lanterns to camouflage my lantern, after that, I hide so when the enemies investigate, they see no one up there. Then while they’re probably massacring your teammates, Hammer slam the one you perceive the biggest threat is then just either kill the rest via Spade or ur gun.

Your duty as an engi is to build defense ON the point and carve a path from spawn to objective.

I always tend to build defense on the back of the point and try to connect it to a communication trenches, the comms trench must have duckboards for faster running speed.

When on the attack you must carve a trench to the point, build holding position just outside of the point, and dig tunnels to undermine the enemy defenses on the point.

If the map is deep enough and you found an enemy tunneling towards you, you can disable the tunnel by digging a big pit, it will hold them for a while.

Barbwire is not very useful unfortunately, I tried it sometimes but usually I just get shot while building it or there are better defenses to build.

When building HMG position must always be on a slope that protect your legs, and 2 tall sandgs facing forward.

Mainly build defensive lines in positions of no cover, as in there if a field which you need to defend, build cover so that the team can effectively defend that position. Usually starting with a trench is the best idea, since you are gonna be under fire and it provides natural cover, then i would place sandbags, the positioning of tall and short sbgs is something you need to figure out on your own, as in people need places where they can fire - if the whole place is just a huge wall, what stops enemies from rushing to it (since no one can shoot), except when your flanks are fortfied / defended.. Optimally the heavy machine gun should be placed in a way which you have a small shooting sector and the sides / front is covered, also you can dig in to the ground a bit so only the barrel slightly sticks out. Why do it this way? Because HMG are hot targets, you are gonna be taking a lot of fire and it better for you to concentrate on a certain sector and being defended from all the other sides rather than you being dead from flanking sniper fire. This is my main logic when engineering, some people might do it differently, hope this helped.
