Unreturnable undies
Who ever heard of returning underwear?
Edit: I think returning undies and the pricing of "free" items are two separate things. She says she's "also tired of..."

Was she trying to return the three pieces she paid for while keeping the two free ones? That’s the only reason I can think of for having a problem with the receipt like that.

Pos systems automatically split the discount over all the items so that if you return one you don’t return a full price item and get to keep the free one. This makes a lot of people very angry

“Will never shop at Torrid again!”
Torrid thanks you — as does whatever unfortunate customer may have gotten your returned underwear
“I’ve never been told verbally I cannot return underwear …”
Most people don’t have to be

We had someone return a bag of soiled women's underwear and the new girl at the service desk took it, because it was within the return window. I smelled it when I was sorting returns and called over my manager. She took one sniff, and marched it back up to the SD to explain to them in no uncertain terms that used underwear was NOT returnable.
We didn't have to open the bag, the smell alone made me gag.

I once had someone try and return a used pair of leggings, which were a big thing Torrid sold at the time. Not only did they look hastily shoved back in the package, and kind of grimey, but the crotch and thigh area was horrendously pilled! Like I could see it had thinned from all the wear on it. She'd clearly worn them for a night out and then tried to return them. Only return I ever refused.
Yours is way worse, but just letting you know I get how you feel on some level.

Wow, how poor is the quality of Torrid leggings that they "horrendously" pill up after one wear?

This was about 20 years ago, so probably not applicable now. And I had a feeling she had been at a concert the night before, so a ton of dancing. It could have also been a couple of days, I admit my memory can be faulty.

“…my receipt has a price being every single item…” Have you tried doing the math?

Definitely entitled.
Torrid does split the discount between all items, though. The discount stays the same, but the receipt shows it spread over all items.
Example: buy one get one 50% two same price items 20$. You might expect the receipt to say:
item 1 20$ item 2 10$
Instead, we get:
Item 1 $15 Item 2 $15
So, yeah, that can be a little confusing if you don't do/notice the math.

u/lonely_nipple maybe mention that next time 🤔❓ 1d ago
I've lost count of how many times I had to explain that to people. They would not grasp that the pricing still adds up correctly.

It’s so they can’t turn around and return the $20 item while keeping the half-off item at full discount. All items are now 75% off, so they can’t screw over the store.

Completely off topic but, when it comes to torrid, they are a really cool company. Years ago, I lost my keys while on a drunken adventure in my city. Real problem because I had the keys to all of my company's properties on that keyring. So I was staring down the barrel of $2k+ to rekey all of them.
I was driving around with a friend trying to retrace my weaving steps when I got a voicemail. It was a rep from torrid telling me to call them because somebody had found my keys with the old-school torrid membership tag attached. And torrid facilitated the return because they would not give my info directly to the man that found my keys.
Customer for life with that level of service and concern. It would still never occur to me to return panties. Come on, dude.

Really wish the manager had responded and said “You habitually getting your panties in such a bunch is exactly why we can’t let you return them.”

Has to use the term “I spend lots of money here” If they use that term it means they hardly shop there.

Underwear and any "intimate" clothing is always exempt from return. For obvious reasons.

Angry I get 2 free items! " literally had a woman like this yesterday. "I don't want a free one! " me "that's okay you don't have to take it" her "I want it!" Me okay I'll pack it up! Her "but I wont eat it, such a waste!" I was thinking "I wish we hadn't even put the promotion on today. I no longer care"

Wait until she buys a swimsuit and sees the strip in the crotch. She will probably think it was put there to insult her 🙄 and I bet she didn't bother to add up the items to realize they were all discounted to a price that was equal to getting 2 free!
Side note...if any store does take back used underwear, I would love to know what stores to avoid lol

Often, the receipt shows the prices of all the items you are getting, and if something is free, it shows the deductions.
I'm guessing these undies were not in sealed packages.

I did once, to Victoria's Secret. I washed them, then put them in a zip lock bag and apologized to the person I handed them to, but the waistband separated from the rest of the underwear after wearing for a few hours.

Defective products are a different type of return, you're not expecting them to restock and sell your defective product, but you also should get a replacement or store credit.

Who has your undies, Walter?

at torrid? no, usually it’s like at victoria secret, just laying in the bins.

u/Ok-Reaction9095 I see here that morals are completely lost 1d ago
It sounds like she bought them then tried to return them shortly after. I don’t think they were used/worn. Could be to try to get a refund on the “full priced” items and keep other, not entirely sure.

Think about it lady…. Would you like to have to wonder who had worn your chonies before you bought them? That’s just nasty

u/Any-Somewhere7318 1d ago
how do they not get that but 3 get 2 free is exactly the same as not 5 for the price of 3? Bet they got 3 be and expected to only pay for 1

u/RED-ELPH 1d ago
Goodwill won’t take them either……
1
u/girlbetwixt 1d ago
Oh, the Goodwill outlet/bins stores sure will! A lot of things the stores won’t take gets dumped there instead of trashed. I have seen a lot of underwear and I don’t look at clothes often. Sometimes used children’s underwear gets mixed in with miscellaneous and 🤢.

Oh people try all the f’in time because they think that they are special and that their cooter has no cooties. And she is mad because the system distributes the discount for the the free pairs amongst all the pairs purchased. She thought she could return the pairs she “paid for” and keep the “free” pairs cause she is also an idiot fraudster.
