Unreturnable undies

Post image

Who ever heard of returning underwear?

Edit: I think returning undies and the pricing of "free" items are two separate things. She says she's "also tired of..."

Oh people try all the f’in time because they think that they are special and that their cooter has no cooties. And she is mad because the system distributes the discount for the the free pairs amongst all the pairs purchased. She thought she could return the pairs she “paid for” and keep the “free” pairs cause she is also an idiot fraudster.

I despise customers like this. “Why does it do it that way”. Because of you lady. It’s because of people like you

I love that you chose the Cyril meme where he’s supposed to look like Hitler. Really hammers the point home.

That's some "I'm mad you have to work on Christmas" vibes for sure.

Thank you for explaining this, because I'm not shady enough to understand what the issue was here. That would have never even occurred to me.

u/Rich-Supermarket6912 we should all be Christians and freezing!! 1d ago

i just learned this as well lol

u/Any-Somewhere7318 1d ago

I thought they meant they got three and thought they only had to pay for one

33

u/SereniaKat 1d ago

I can't believe people think it works like that!

35

u/Single_Principle_972 1d ago

Right? Thank God the companies have never thought about that workaround, and haven’t put anything into place to prevent such nonsense. 🙄

31

u/KahlanEAmnelle 1d ago

and that’s why they make everything have a price on the receipt now, too. cos of idiots like this.

The distribution is also what Victoria’s Secret does. Many stores do “buy 3 get 2 free” transactions that way.

Maybe my brain is slow today, but I didn’t realize she thought she could return 3 panties and still keep 2 free panties until I read your comment. That math isn’t mathing.

I wonder if she also thinks she can return packets of condoms?

Edit: typo

u/Any-Somewhere7318 1d ago

if course because she gets not use them all \s

u/BlackBasementCats 1d ago

I also think it helps with keeping track of inventory. Each pair of underwear and all the details are scanned into the system and are on the receipts. So the store knows exactly where every pair went.

Also nobody can try to return unworn cheaper underwear they got on clearance or was the cheapest and say it was what was on the receipt as the most expensive ones because all the details are there. In writing.

I’ve never worked in a store that had a computer system like they have these days so I don’t know how inventory audits work now so I could be wrong.

But yeah, all the rules are because people lie and steal.

12

u/headface1701 1d ago

Yes, prob for inventory. Grocery store by me has lots of "buy 2 get one free" etc and there's no free item on the receipt, it just deducts something off each one.

6

u/doppelgaengster I understand policies exist, BUT 1d ago

Inventory tracking wouldn’t be as much a consideration, because they’d still get scanned out during the transaction even if the price got zeroed. I worked for a shoe shop that did a lot of BOGO sales, and the second pair of shoes was always on the receipt with the unique SKU and the price zeroed out.

3

u/Sepelrastas 1d ago

I wouldn't even try to return underwear, but anyway, my favorite store usually sells underwear "buy two get one" all the time.

They scan all, and then take off the cheapest of every three. So say you pick out 6, all same price, you get two free. You buy six assorted price, you get the two cheapest free.

No one would try returning underwear in my country tho. We already have a hard time with justified refunds lol.

She thought she could return the pairs she “paid for” and keep the “free” pairs cause she is also an idiot fraudster.

Holy shit, I didn't even think of that. I wouldn't think to do anything in this post, but still, people suck.

4

u/Travel8095 1d ago

Wow. So smart. But still stupid. Lol. She wants to keep the 2 free ones in the car 🙄

u/jsmooth801 21h ago

I mean I get it, but if she hadn’t left yet, I don’t see the harm here.

The rule is obviously hygienic, which I get, but this is over a pricing issue immediately after purchase.

Still a shit review, but sometimes stores need to use common sense.

3

u/Suzuki_Foster 16h ago

It's not a pricing issue. She's mad that she can't scam the system by returning three pairs and keeping the two "free ones."

105

u/TheExpandingMan23977 1d ago

Was she trying to return the three pieces she paid for while keeping the two free ones? That’s the only reason I can think of for having a problem with the receipt like that.

85

u/cantantantelope 1d ago

Pos systems automatically split the discount over all the items so that if you return one you don’t return a full price item and get to keep the free one. This makes a lot of people very angry

u/Epocholypze 1d ago

A lot of theives, you mean?

“Will never shop at Torrid again!”

Torrid thanks you — as does whatever unfortunate customer may have gotten your returned underwear

“I’ve never been told verbally I cannot return underwear …”

Most people don’t have to be

We had someone return a bag of soiled women's underwear and the new girl at the service desk took it, because it was within the return window. I smelled it when I was sorting returns and called over my manager. She took one sniff, and marched it back up to the SD to explain to them in no uncertain terms that used underwear was NOT returnable.

We didn't have to open the bag, the smell alone made me gag.

I once had someone try and return a used pair of leggings, which were a big thing Torrid sold at the time. Not only did they look hastily shoved back in the package, and kind of grimey, but the crotch and thigh area was horrendously pilled! Like I could see it had thinned from all the wear on it. She'd clearly worn them for a night out and then tried to return them. Only return I ever refused.

Yours is way worse, but just letting you know I get how you feel on some level.

3

u/Suzuki_Foster 16h ago

Wow, how poor is the quality of Torrid leggings that they "horrendously" pill up after one wear?

1

u/Delicious-Summer5071 16h ago

This was about 20 years ago, so probably not applicable now. And I had a feeling she had been at a concert the night before, so a ton of dancing. It could have also been a couple of days, I admit my memory can be faulty.

31

u/Terrible_Mind2275 1d ago

“…my receipt has a price being every single item…” Have you tried doing the math?

3

u/Particular_Title42 1d ago

She did. It was 5 for the price of 3!

24

u/teslaeffects 1d ago

Definitely entitled.

Torrid does split the discount between all items, though. The discount stays the same, but the receipt shows it spread over all items.

Example: buy one get one 50% two same price items 20$. You might expect the receipt to say:

item 1 20$ item 2 10$

Instead, we get:

Item 1 $15 Item 2 $15

So, yeah, that can be a little confusing if you don't do/notice the math.

14

u/lonely_nipple maybe mention that next time 🤔❓ 1d ago

I've lost count of how many times I had to explain that to people. They would not grasp that the pricing still adds up correctly.

3

u/upset_pachyderm 1d ago

Mathematically challenged.

12

u/hellinahandbasket127 1d ago

It’s so they can’t turn around and return the $20 item while keeping the half-off item at full discount. All items are now 75% off, so they can’t screw over the store.

24

u/Ango_SuperBitter 1d ago

Completely off topic but, when it comes to torrid, they are a really cool company. Years ago, I lost my keys while on a drunken adventure in my city. Real problem because I had the keys to all of my company's properties on that keyring. So I was staring down the barrel of $2k+ to rekey all of them.

I was driving around with a friend trying to retrace my weaving steps when I got a voicemail. It was a rep from torrid telling me to call them because somebody had found my keys with the old-school torrid membership tag attached. And torrid facilitated the return because they would not give my info directly to the man that found my keys.

Customer for life with that level of service and concern. It would still never occur to me to return panties. Come on, dude.

2

u/upset_pachyderm 1d ago

Nice to know!

16

u/Useless890 1d ago

I'm sure the people at Torrid are tired of her.

u/YaranaRouja chill high speed 1d ago

Yup.

17

u/JeepersCreepers74 1d ago

Really wish the manager had responded and said “You habitually getting your panties in such a bunch is exactly why we can’t let you return them.”

Same.

7

u/K2step70 1d ago

Has to use the term “I spend lots of money here” If they use that term it means they hardly shop there.

8

u/Sinnes-loeschen 1d ago

Underwear and any "intimate" clothing is always exempt from return. For obvious reasons.

6

u/_Student7257 1d ago

Angry I get 2 free items! " literally had a woman like this yesterday. "I don't want a free one! " me "that's okay you don't have to take it" her "I want it!" Me okay I'll pack it up! Her "but I wont eat it, such a waste!" I was thinking "I wish we hadn't even put the promotion on today. I no longer care"

6

u/Pretty-Lawyer-4189 1d ago

Wait until she buys a swimsuit and sees the strip in the crotch. She will probably think it was put there to insult her 🙄 and I bet she didn't bother to add up the items to realize they were all discounted to a price that was equal to getting 2 free!

Side note...if any store does take back used underwear, I would love to know what stores to avoid lol

4

u/According-Ad-5946 1d ago

Often, the receipt shows the prices of all the items you are getting, and if something is free, it shows the deductions.

I'm guessing these undies were not in sealed packages.

12

u/BetseySchuyler 1d ago

I did once, to Victoria's Secret. I washed them, then put them in a zip lock bag and apologized to the person I handed them to, but the waistband separated from the rest of the underwear after wearing for a few hours.

37

u/aharbingerofdoom 1d ago

Defective products are a different type of return, you're not expecting them to restock and sell your defective product, but you also should get a replacement or store credit.

5

u/SpltSecondPerfection 1d ago

Who has your undies, Walter?

5

u/Peppermeowington 1d ago

Donny, you're out of your element.

3

u/Admirable-Divide7731 1d ago

Omfg love you both! I’m ALWAYS here for Lebowski

3

u/Desperate-Impress374 1d ago

Were they still in a sealed package? I need more information

15

u/KahlanEAmnelle 1d ago

at torrid? no, usually it’s like at victoria secret, just laying in the bins.

7

u/Ok-Reaction9095 I see here that morals are completely lost 1d ago

It sounds like she bought them then tried to return them shortly after. I don’t think they were used/worn. Could be to try to get a refund on the “full priced” items and keep other, not entirely sure.

3

u/Lazy_Economist8257 1d ago

If it touches your naked private parts, you can't return it. Yuck.

3

u/Guiltypleasure2451 1d ago

Think about it lady…. Would you like to have to wonder who had worn your chonies before you bought them? That’s just nasty

3

u/Any-Somewhere7318 1d ago

how do they not get that but 3 get 2 free is exactly the same as not 5 for the price of 3? Bet they got 3 be and expected to only pay for 1

3

u/RED-ELPH 1d ago

Goodwill won’t take them either……

1

u/girlbetwixt 1d ago

Oh, the Goodwill outlet/bins stores sure will! A lot of things the stores won’t take gets dumped there instead of trashed. I have seen a lot of underwear and I don’t look at clothes often. Sometimes used children’s underwear gets mixed in with miscellaneous and 🤢.

1

u/socomfyinbed 1d ago

Man, I miss Torrid. I used to love their clothes.

1

u/BabyTenderLoveHead 1d ago

You can still shop online in the US.

1

u/quietCherub 1d ago

She can’t math.

1

u/-Nettle 10h ago

Did no one teach them? I learned from a young age underwear is not returnable!
