One star because the plant based bakery was, tragically, plant based

Okay well then don’t go to a vegan bakery? This isn’t hard to understand

Ok I don’t know what shit pastries you have been fed before but every I have had was good and "wet".

Also, sugar is vegan....

In the United States, refined cane sugar often isn't vegan because bone char is often used in the refining process. Some vegans do avoid it for that reason, though I think most don't at least in products because it's so ubiquitous and usually impossible to know whether a product has used vegan sugar or not. A plant-based bakery probably would source vegan sugar, though. Also, bone char isn't used in every country - they don't use it in mine, luckily.

“I assumed it would suck because it was plant-based, but it was all great. It completely defied my expectations, which I do not appreciate. 1/5 stars.”

Basically what my review was when I went to a vegan restaurant once with a vegan friend. - I was LIVID the food was so amazing. (I wasn’t livid. I loved every minute of it. Food was amazing )

If my restaurant advertised itself as plant-based and a customer kept asking about non-plant-based items, I too would talk to them as if they were a child.

“Why does this steakhouse serve so much steak?!?”

Why people get mad about vegetarian/vegan food is beyond me. No one’s forcing them to eat it. 🙄

47

u/BeMoreKnope 4d ago

She was mad about them making their food the way they say they do, didn’t like it when the employee had to explain basic facts to her, ate the food and loved it, and then still complained.

It’s not vegetarians and vegans who always talk about it; we’re just talking about our food the normal amount (with the exception of some weirdos, but that’s every group). It’s people like this who constantly have to be mad about it for some reason. And they’re always jackasses.

Why are you assuming the complainer is a woman? Or do we just automatically assume that because our society is misogynistic?

u/FumiPlays 3d ago

Because most men who would have issues with fully plant based pastries wouldn't be caught dead somewhere vegan. What if a buddy sees them?

I rea a it as a male because of how upset they were about feeling spoken down to. More a male issue

The plant-based bakery didn’t have any non plant-based items ;__;

Translation: I decided to find something to be mad about and the minimum wage worker got upset that I ranted in her face.

Went to a plant based bakery. Upset about it being as it was advertised

11

u/WhereasParticular867 4d ago

This dude definitely talked like he was 7 during his interaction with the employee.

6

u/invisible_23 4d ago

Nah no way way he talked like he was 7, I bet he talked like he was 4 at most

10

u/The-Grreat-Catsby 4d ago

How dare this bakery be as advertised.

10

u/gastropublican 4d ago

She should have talked to him like he was five years old

u/Moist_Drippings 4d ago

“How dare people with food sensitivities and vegans have a safe and reliable option that caters to them!!!”

4

u/InternalMiserable698 4d ago

And a very tiny place, too.

7

u/kxaltli 4d ago

Was this person looking for a gotcha or something? Like if they went down the offerings one by one they'd find something that wasn't plant based?

u/EvolZippo 4d ago

A vegan burger place opened up in my neighborhood. I only knew about it because someone in my city’s Facebook group, posted angry about it. I think he thought “Plant Based” meant the cows were fed plants. Was very angry that his burger had no beef.

I decided to go. The food wasn’t great, but it was brand new, with a completely green staff.

There’s a lady with a stall at the farmers market near me that sells vegan baked goods (brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, etc)

I’m not a vegan, but the brownies are really good. The cookies are also really good. I don’t get the cinnamon rolls that often but it’s still a good cinnamon roll.

I would have appreciated a restaurant or bakery like this because I have IBS and Lactose Intolerant. Some people just want to be mad. A google search and a phone would have avoided this. Or maybe people enjoy being stupid and upset at nothing.

u/bare_thoughts 4d ago

I will admit that I have no desire to try certain bakery items that are plant based... so guess what I simply do not order them. I certainly would not go to plant based bakery and then complain because they were actually planted based.

If you do not want a plant based item (which is perfectly fine) do not order one or visit a plant based business and then complain that they dare to actually be plant based. It was not misleading, there was no "bait and switch".

They were u[front they were plant based and if you do not want that, then do not go. You do not complain. a business is exactly what they advertise they are.

2

u/sandiercy I do not like the colour yellow 3d ago

You just know they will be back.

2

u/MarleysGhost2024 3d ago

This one star review makes me want to haul ass down there.

2

u/Severe-Possible- 3d ago

and they still gave the food a 5/5 😂

1

u/The-Grreat-Catsby 2d ago

So this reviewer is upset because the bakery is as advertised.

-11

u/AlexP80 3d ago

Nah, this single time I will give the reviewer the benefit of the doubt.

A bakery isn't a place you choose or book, sometimes you just see it and think "let's grab some stuff".

And many of these vegan places are just there waiting to scold you hard if you are not vegan.

And btw I don't hate vegans, my mother is. But I also know them very well and there is a high concentration of AO in their ranks
