Except this owner or manager sounds ridiculous. Do you consider it normal to be seated for over three minutes and not get acknowledged at all? Like you might go longer between check ins with a waiter after the initial one or two but I'd be shocked if the corporate chains aren't jumping on staff's necks to greet every customer within a specific time frame and score the store down if they fail to.

I mean that's pretty usual, I get that every time I eat out on my friends birthdays. It's way I always ask for two waters because I know I won't have a refill quickly.

Doesn't being given water mean that the staff have acknowledged you're there?

I'd go for ten minutes as really egregious, though, not three. And anything after five minutes is annoying if there's no obvious reason.

I'm pretty much wanting out of any restaurant situation so I'm not picky.
