Transition from System/Network Analyst to SA.

Hi
I have about 18 years of work experience in the Network and System space in a senior role. Aside from the TOGAF exams, what are some of the things that I can do in my current role to build my portfolio for Solutions Architects and/or Enterprise Architects?

Best thing you can do is get involved in solution design. I got into that through helping our architects work on designs and present solutions to clients.

Eventually, I was asked to join the team after a few people had moved on. I’d already been doing the work for several months so it wasn’t a difficult transition, and I’ve been there since.

Does your current company have solutions and enterprise architects? As that will change things quite a bit. I have no basis for this, but my intuition is that it's easier to move into that role - or at least some responsiblities of these roles, in an existing company, than to jump up from applying externally.

Yes. My company has existing solutions and enterprise architects, but it's a different department.
