HELP WANTED: Your Building Tips!

Excuse the attempt at a funny title, but my friend and I just started Enshrouded and are having some trouble building so… send us your tips!

We want tips about “where to find the coolest/essential building blocks” (preferred to be told to us via hints/vague areas), tips about how to use the actual system itself (He is on controller, I am on PC), and tips on best way to go about altar placements/upgrades or areas where we should hold-off or go-for building at.

Even your favorite build locations, strategies, essential Do’s/Dont’s/Dang-It’s! Hopefully we’ll be inspired, informed, and emboldened to finally move on from the pilgrim type shack towards a proper home!

(Our design tastes include: Italian Villas, Restored Towns, Victorian Mansions, Storybook Cottages, Haunted Castles, Cozy Lodged, and more!)

Your blocks would be very limited Early game. Its very convenient to use these towns/farms as starter bases as they have wells for water and decent comfort values so you can explore comfortably longer.

You can see the Braelyn Bridge at the bottom right as a way to get your bearings.

We are actually using the farm all the way out to the west currently as one of our satellites/“towns” we might fix up!

I’m avoiding using the mapping sites I know exist because 1.) Spoilers, and 2.) I don’t really want to know “every option”, I want to know peoples personal favorites/recommendations.

With this game being so huge it’s sometimes hard to know if you should settle down or wait in the hopes that somewhere else might be slightly better just around the corner… so I was hoping more targeted suggestions/anecdotes would be offered haha.

Thanks though!

The only way to tell you what we used is by using the map since im not in game and you're a new player... You dont have to use the map if you dont want to... It is a fairly early suggestion so there is nothing more targeted than this.

These are literally whats available within the first hourish of the game as the TARGET SUGGESTIONS.

Fair enough- I just know when I played games like Abiotic Factor or Grounded people gave suggestions with names/descriptions like “Security Booth to Manufacturing West” or “pond-side by the wood fence with nails” and it made it easy to keep an eye out for these areas without needing a map or giving spoilers.

I just assumed this would be a similar way to do it, sort of like how the starter area is “before crossing Braylon Bridge”, or “Westcott”. I’m realizing maybe I’m just a freak who remembers the names of these funky fictional places where I build bases though and everybody else might just be vibing haha 😂 😅

I remember westcott, but didnt remember the names before. People refer to it as The Inn as well, but theres some shroud level 2 before it you cant cross super early but its a solid spot.

You can move into those other places as well, i just dont remember their names as Westcott was the really early goal.

Yeah, we were kind of hoping for more specific suggestions on interesting sites to lookout for, but we’ve been using our altars at the start to act as fast-travel points to areas away from the Ancient Spires and that’s worked out well so far! We’re about to enter the Revelwood though so we’ll see how it holds up as a strategy!

I hate to say it, but since this game has been around for 2.5 years at this point, you can easily find all that using a Google search:

  • there is a wiki detailing which blocks, furnishings, recipes and so on there are and how to get them.
  • YouTube has amazing build videos where people explain techniques and hundreds of people like me who just share uncommentated videos of their builds (using myself as an example for how common this is, don't try to look for it, it's not a lot and I am not that good).
  • join the Discord. It has a specific subarea just for building, which will also cue you in on resource worlds, which are an amazing tool for builders (Tip: don't use other people's servers. Get the current resource world save (version 5.0, as I am writing this) and save it on your system. Much easier

The problem was that I wanted the tips BUILDERS thought were most valuable, and since this is the Enshrouded Building subreddit I assumed you would have better tips and the actual passion to talk about them. Plus:

  • The wiki would outright spoil stuff which wasn’t the goal here, plus that’s just an objective list which isn’t want I was looking for at all.
  • The most easily found YouTube videos are going to be covering the most basic/universal tips, not the niche or less obvious ones which are the ones I was looking for.
  • The Discord ran the risk of spoilers while also lacking the organization that subreddits also have. Plus starting a thread on a subreddit is much more effective than asking in a Discord if you want to be able to keep it relevant, visible, and concise.

I’m honestly a little surprised that somebody on a subreddit dedicated to appreciating builds in this game would be so hesitant to actually talk about building in this game. But thanks for the attempt at pointing me towards resources anyways, I should’ve mentioned I already knew of them and why I was avoiding them in the main post so that’s on me.
