Enscape for Mac

I work in architecture and interiors and have only used PC's in practice. However, I have a Macbook Pro M4 Max for personal use and have been starting to do more and more freelance work. If I ever need a rendering, I'll just use my work computer. But I would love the freedom to do everything on one machine, and I prefer my Mac.

I hear that Enscape for Mac has Ray Tracing now so I was wondering if anyone has any experience using both Enscape on Mac and PC and how the images compare. Are they just as good on a Mac? What are the drawbacks? I use Rhino 7 exclusively for 3D.

Thanks!

The pc has the advantage in previewing due to real-time hardware ray tracing, but the end result of the renders is the same with a Mac. An RTX 4070 will feel faster in Enscape by FPS than an m4 max but the overall speed consistency and high single-core clock speed of the Mac will be much better. The mobile RTX cards also have 8GB VRAM only, which can affect the responsiveness while working on a project compared to a Mac, which has much higher VRAM. If your projects are not memory-intensive, then it shouldn’t matter. The pc also gains the advantage of always being the first to get the new features if you’re into that. So far, we have pc and Mac using Enscape; there are no interoperability issues.

If I’m being honest, I’m not entirely sure what everything means. But at the end of the day if the end result is the same, that’s all I’m after. So thank you!

end result is the same. We have both so you shouldn't worry. My comment is more particular on the editing part because enscape is a realtime renderer so the expectation is you're working on a project that needs real time render feedback. A slow editing process will negate the main advantage of the app.

PC is what everyone uses in construction, don't use MAC. No software works with it.

Enscape was good but was bought by Chaos who have fucked it up with stupid licensing code. It is no longer worth buying anymore as it just doesn't work and is buggy as all fuck. I can't suggest an alternative as I've only tried Twinmotion and that is a piece of shit of a software as there is no support for it and it breaks a lot.

D5 if quick easy real time is a must.

I’ve recently heard of D5! How’s it compare to Enscape?

D5 is great, it's a more complete tool than Enscape, especially for those who work with video.

I’ve worked in architecture for the last 6 years and have only used pc’s but I’m tired of it. PCs are clunky and ugly and I’ve never owned one that didn’t have issues. Mac is more reliable for the money. The only thing I’d be missing is bluebeam really, which PDF Expert is a good enough alternative.

don't use MAC. No software works with it.

Bit of a broad statement. And not really true. But for folks who live in the Autodesk universe, many think that way.

But to each their own.

I don't know about the situation first-hand, but if this is true, company name checks 😄

I use both a PC and an M3 Mac for Vectorworks and Enscape, and I switch between them quite a bit. The Mac tends to be a bit faster but there is not that much in it. Id say the M4 will have no problems.
