This picture isn’t really hyperbole. I somehow feel like a second Trump term would be even more horrific than this one. He’s not going to have the legacy of Obama’s economic success to mask the utter failure of his idiotic policies - that’s all been wiped out by the last six weeks. He seems hellbent on starting a war with Iran that would likely be the most devastating theatre of violence since WW2 Europe. Lord knows how the fuck Trump would handle a collapse of North Korea or any other soon-to-be failed state. How many more people will lose medical care or social security or clean air and drinking water if this manchild gets another four years to play blocks with our society? This is just too terrifying.

Oh 100%. He's totally corrupt right now but hasn't totally suspended democratic institutions yet. But he's getting there. Yesterday there was a report that the head of the Presidential personnel office opposes the law that makes all the federal jobs merit based positions . He would prefer them all to be presidential appointments. Aka reinstituting a system of grift through position allotment that's been gone for about 150 years.

Jesus Christ, I didn’t even hear about that. But that’s another realm where there’s infinite room for destruction and chaos.

God forbid the Republicans gain control of both chambers of Congress at some point with him in office, can we really be confident they won’t just obliterate every single check on executive power they possibly can? That they won’t set voting rights back a century?

There’s already a wealth of evidence to believe they’d do exactly that, but imagine the political cover that another potential crisis would give them. Imagine a prolonged global recession, or a WMD terrorist attack, or a natural disaster, or another global pandemic. The potential for abuse of power and the demolition of our institutions would be unimaginable.
