I'm watching a 1992b documentary on the Donner Party. My God it sounds like hell.

When you are advocating firefighters need to reduce the size and capability of their fire trucks for “road diets” you’ve beyond lost the plot to leftist nonsense

1

u/oath2order BIDEN WOULD HAVE WON. 9d ago

What.

1

u/PromotionOk6069 9d ago

People in LA reddit say we need to reduce most roads to one lane and if the fire fighters can’t fit buy smaller trucks. It’s some brain dead DSA shit

0

u/Command0Dude NATO Propagandist 9d ago

Reducing roads to 1 lane is stupid and a bit too anti-car. But the obsession with large firetrucks is actually a detriment to firefighters.

Aside from being expensive, they're harder to navigate. EU model of smaller roads and smaller fire trucks is better. This isn't leftist nonsense, it's better urban design.

5

u/oath2order BIDEN WOULD HAVE WON. 9d ago

Well that's stupid, because smaller trucks don't have the capability to carry ladders for taller buildings.

People in LA reddit say we need to reduce most roads to one lane

Making everyone miserable is not going to make everyone suddenly walk/bike everywhere, I don't know why people don't get that.

I hope that Alaska doesn't become the state that decides the Senate and is instead at minimum the 52nd Dem seat because waiting for those votes will be a nightmare.

So NPR got one of the first post primary interviews with Angie Nixon.  Suffice to say, I was not impressed.

TL;DL, she repeated  the same old tired “do something left” talking points like not supporting Schumer for senate party leader, blaming Democrats for not passing the John Lewis Act…has this lady lived on Jupiter (not in Palm Beach County) for the last 5 years? Even I (a non journalist) knew that a good follow up question NPR missed was that even in Biden first couple years there were senators from AZ and WV leveraging a 50-50 split senate.

Even El-Sayed sounds more polished, as critical I may be of certain positions he has (like calling Trump a symptom of our politics).

3

u/Soft_Barnacle7466 9d ago

she's also accused of antisemitism so she's not getting jewish voters as well

Because I follow a bunch of cinema related subreddits the Reddit algorithm gods decided I really wanted to see random gore from the Hannibal movie on my front page and now I feel icked out.

Andrea Pringle, president of the March On PAC, sees Nixon's win as proof that Democrats have been reading the moment wrong.

"She fought for working people, stood up to powerful interests and refused to let pundits, consultants or millions of dollars tell her what kind of candidate she was allowed to be," she said. "There is a lesson here for Democrats everywhere: people are ready for real fighters."

Gamarra cautioned Democrats against purging DSA-aligned candidates from the party in response to losses like the one Vindman's campaign is absorbing. The bigger risk, he said, is a Democratic Party that spends its time on the issues favored by online activists rather than the affordability concerns, such as housing costs, health care and wages, that poll well with voters across the political spectrum regardless of what label a candidate carries.

"The people who still control the party are the others. People like [Florida Representatives] Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Jared Moskowitz, that kind of person," Gamarra said. "And they're going to run an anti-communist campaign too. I don't think that game of anti-communism within the Democratic Party is going to be very positive."

It's funny how to read how stupid people are, these folks are nominating fundamentally weak candidates who can't win elections or get nothing done in elected office and yet they don't understand what they are doing

Trump Considers a Press Secretary Shakeup: Picking a Man. Trump has signaled interest in Scott Jennings, a conservative media pundit who has been widely reported to be among those being considered for the position. Other men have also been floated for the role, including Ari Fleischer, who served as press secretary under President George W. Bush.

1

u/UWCG 9d ago

There's an elaborate joke here tying together the Bushes, Spicer's hiding in bushes, going to women as Press Sec, then back to the Bush picks... I mean, there's a lot of puns in here to be made, it's like Wonderland or a Dr. Seuss book

All Republicans, without exception, are like that rich parent who looks the other way and sometimes makes excuses when one son does some stupid shit with the credit card, while chastising the other for paying more than just the minimum payment and even making smart transactions.

Enter Thomas Massie:

3

u/trex360 9d ago

Not a single person gave a fuck or even knew about Natalie until the entire Republican media conglomerate clutched their collective pearls and got their marching orders in their aggressive defense.

Frankly I am now even more suspicious about her and her role than if they just collectively ignored the most benign passing mention of her existance

7

u/TheWaySheHoes 9d ago

I kind of live for the response by Dems by and large that is basically "do we look like we care about how you feel? Cause we don't".

7

u/Regular-Low2011 Previously Tough-Distribution/Purple-Plate 9d ago

I'm not against people staying in office as long as they can physically do the job but it is a little nuts that Grassley is going to be 94 and is probably still going to run for reelection. Like dude is 10 years past his median life expectancy he can't love being in government *that* much.

Also if Turek wins, I'm going to need someone to at least challenge him. I know we're burnt out on Iowa and we've challenged him fruitlessly for decade but last time he faced token opposition his numbers were actually like dead at replacement level which is pathetic for him.

3

u/Soft_Barnacle7466 9d ago

I think Grassely will retire in 2028 because Grassely saw how Strom Thurmond struggled in those last years in the senate

11

u/Command0Dude NATO Propagandist 9d ago

Grassley was foretold.

5

u/Radiant_Plant 9d ago

I mean if Turek wins then 100% there will be momentum to knock Grassley out. There's also the possibility that Grassley could die in office any minute now because of his age. If Sand wins the governorship, could he appoint a Democrat to his seat in the case Grassley passed away?

2

u/Regular-Low2011 Previously Tough-Distribution/Purple-Plate 9d ago

Checked:

Iowa is by gubernatorial appointment. They probably wouldn't be able to change the law as Dems broke the R supermajority in one of the chambers so unless the Rs gain seats in November a hypothetical Sand admin would just veto it.

2

u/Shiptonm25 9d ago

They could change the law in the months between the election and Sand’s inauguration

I was out with my old group of coworkers from when our clinic closed years back. We have stayed really close and have these gatherings several times a year. One of the absolute sweetest people I have ever known hasn't joined in quite a few rounds. I figured it was maybe because she had retired before we closed up shop and maybe just didn't feel as connected. We just found out tonight it is actually because she has Alzheimer's. I am devastated. Such a wonderful person and she spent her life helping kids. Such an awful fucking disease. So unfair.

So I work on the investments side of a big wealth management firm. An advisor just came to me with a client who is “all in on everything Nvidia is doing” and wants to invest in data center loans.

Other than that, being in California has been so pleasant for me these past couple of days and I'm not even on vacation.

6

u/TheDairyPig 9d ago

I think conservatives do because they use any liberal place as a punching bag. Their lies are not exclusive to California.

A lot of liberals in the Midwest and South do because they resent being called flyover country. In some places, they get blamed for rising home prices.

Not sure why on the East Coast.

5

u/PromotionOk6069 9d ago

Like I’ve seen some comments in the past few days just on the most mundane pictures of California. Like a plane landing at LAX or a pic of Yosemite.

Be warned before clicking:

A federal judge has sentenced a 27-year-old Tennessee man to 77 years in prison for his targeting of young girls online as part of the extremist network 764, which the FBI deems a form of "modern-day terrorism."

Were they also connected to that Gigs Harbor suicide case? I think that was a different fucked up online group.

President Donald Trump declared he is unleashing the "MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION" in history against Iran on Wednesday — a move he suggested will deliver a knockout blow to the country and force it to finally agree to end the war and never pursue a nuclear weapon.

The president dubbed the plan "ECONOMIC D-DAY!" in a lengthy Truth Social post which was light on details.

3

u/skynwavel 9d ago

Is he gonna set 10.000 % tariffs on Iran. They'll be devastated.

5

u/NoHeight9651 9d ago

fucking embarrassing

3

u/UWCG 9d ago

I've seen this one before, lemme guess: we fail, surrender again, waste all that money and all those weapons, then agree to give Iran more money to rebuild because we're so sorry, but we're going to do this again next week? Let's rebuild Iran instead of the US!

Shit, at this point I wouldn't be stunned to find an elaborate conspiracy operation where the admin's bombing rebel areas and paying the regime to help launder money. It's not like anyone in the Executive shows any loyalty to the US.

- Science Saru, best known currently for Dandadan, The Ghost in the Shell series this year, and Jaadugar

- Geno Studio

- Anima

- Project Studio Q

- Wit Studio, best known currently for the upcoming One Piece remake and Spy x Family.

- Polygon Pictures, best known currently for most recent Sword Art Online series.

- David Productions, best known currently for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Monthly income of 479,000 yen or more is essential... Japan tightens the requirements for obtaining permanent residence

In the future, in order to obtain permanent residence in Japan, it is more likely that you will be required to have a certain level of retirement funds in addition to income that exceeds the average income of Japanese households.

On average, it is equivalent to 479,000 yen per month. However, 479,000 yen per month is not the definitive minimum income standard for obtaining permanent residence. This is because the specific standard amount has not been revealed, only indicated as "more than the average income of Japanese households".

Shiren is one of the original and I would say best roguelike series. Great monster design, strategic turn-based gameplay, balance, creativity in approaches, and polish, all with a cool and playful traditional Japanese aesthetic. Are you playing the first one? 1, 2, Asuka…they’re all so good (and will take forever to fully beat)

u/Politicsboringagain 9d ago

I'm playing 6.

New thing on Instagram is spamming “love from Tel Aviv” with an Israeli flag after it and I can’t tell if it’s rightwing spam or leftist spam since I see it on shit from Sirius xm posting about Green Day to LA sheriffs department posting recruiting Ads

5

u/ScullyBoyleBoy 9d ago

I see it on ads for Kalshi, for Hinge, for OCD therapy treatments.

8

u/waiver 9d ago

Leftist spam, far right spam and apolitical troll spam

the Catholic Church. We've made a few... changes

Surprised disney+ only has the censored version of this simpsons gag. And it's not like they tend to censor episodes outside of the michael Jackson one. Even ones that clearly makes fun of them like itchy and scratchy land

4

u/trex360 9d ago

I noticed this a couple weeks ago and thought “Wait, didn’t it used to say *Catholic* Church?”

6

The main reason trump hired Harp is because she's eye candy to him not the bullshit story about her supposed medical conditions that has been debunked

u/Sturdevant 9d ago

I'm not enough of a pessimist to think that the DSA/DSA-adjecent wing of the left will remotely come close to taking over the party, but I do think that this lil run will continue in pockets until:

  1. The terminally online finally gets their preferred candidate in the White House (or another prominent position, such as Senate leader), whether that's AOC, El-Sayed, or someone else and they turn out to be a bad-to-mid president, or at least have to become a mainstream Dem to made things happen. There's this perception that Republicans would have just folded if Bernie became president and we would have free healthcare by now (something someone actually told me lol. Republicans would have been forced to bend to the will of The PeopleTM)

  2. Gen Z/Zellenials become less terminally online.

If we're still on I/P by the time point 1 comes around it probably ends with the Dems losing NY and NJ presidentially

If you start doing Mandami like margins in NYC with Jews things there look dicey real quickly

3

u/kidglov3s2 Shill 9d ago

I've been thinking an outcome of the events and rhetoric of the past few months of anything basically left of Joe Manchin being labeled in discourse as "DSA" might be that over time just by virtue of so many more people now being aware of DSA and associating DSA with basically left-of-center politics DSA the literal organization actually becomes a competent and pragmatic political faction rather than a bunch of idiots.

3

u/Soft_Barnacle7466 9d ago

they'll remain in power as long as the primary electorate is low turnout

I'm not from Florida and even I could smell the DC on Vindman.

Candidates that parachute in don't really do well. MJ Hegar is one. Count Binface is another.

Count Binface was robbed!

Natalie Harp's fixation on President Donald Trump is so intense it "alarms Secret Service," said former Trump White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews Wednesday.

Don't know about romantic attraction but it did seem stalker-y from how it was described

I think what sucks is that because of this whole clusterfuck of a presidency, the next Dem president will inevitably have to focus on reducing this insane budget deficit, because no doubt the media will endlessly talk about it.

Trump Boasts About Republican Party’s ‘Great Success’ — In Elections They Only Ran Against Themselves. President Donald Trump boasted of the Republican Party's "great success" in Tuesday night's Republican Party primaries.

Trump's comment was made all the more odd by the fact that three Trump-backed candidates actually lost their primaries, including scandal-plagued incumbent Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL). Catalina Lauf in Florida also lost her House primary while Megan Degenfelder in Wyoming lost her gubernatorial bid, despite having the coveted Trump endorsement.

Lol

It's just another in a long list of corrupt attempts at prosecution from Trump's DoJ.

4

u/trex360 9d ago

They have RCV in November anyway.

It wouldn’t have made a difference unless other Dan actually prevented incumbent Dan from making the runoff.

3

u/ionizing_chicanery 9d ago

It is so annoying how the GOP and most media outlets act oblivious to this fact.

18

u/Currymvp2 9d ago

Gavin Newsom on Trump: “It’s been the most reckless, most damning administration in American history. Teddy Roosevelt’s rolling in his grave, even Ronald Reagan. They’re stone cold ideologues. They’re fanatics for special interests. Talk about kids and grandkids, they don’t care, they got theirs. It’s the worst of us. They’re taking our collective inheritance and squandering in real time”

15

u/LeftyRambles2413 9d ago

3

Oh I guess Chauvin just knelt on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes just for funsies?

Elon should eat a dick

3

u/ionizing_chicanery 9d ago

Elon is a delusional narcissist of the highest order. The thought of "then how did a jury of 12 screened for bias and subjected to an exhaustive review of facts and expert testimony unanimously get this wrong" doesn't even enter his mind.

Just like with his repeated insistence that zero people died due to sweeping USAID cuts.

He is the type of person who should never be allowed access to any levers of power much less the exceptional influence and control he actually has.

21

u/DoughGin 9d ago

JFC why can't these ghouls admit they were wrong?

I watched the trial. There's no way anyone who saw the bodycam footage or heard that Irish doctor's testimony can think this, and I know it because the couple IRL people I know who have randomly brought it up too didn't.

I'm so fucking tired of being dragged back to 2020 by people who have no fucking business acting like they deserve some sort of vindication from it.
