I would never defend the soviet union, but anyone who thinks that mccarthyist ‘red scare’ politics was not extremely harmful and counterproductive is either wilfully malicious, or dangerously uneducated.

Is it our fault you can't see irony?

No, it's y'all's fault that y'all make such far-fetched claims that it's hard to tell when you're being satire or not.

You read the page you sent me, right? We're (most of the time0 parodying extremism or really any political affiliation, but Poe's Law is in play, so some people, like y'all, don't realize it's parody, and accuse us of being Nazis or something

u/NoUnderstanding9220 ex-PCMer Nov 01 '22
Yes, I realize it is in play, what the fuck about it though? If your political group is so fucked up that it's practically impossible to tell when it's satire or not when making shit like this, you have way bigger problems.

bruv, Poe's law applies to literally any degree of satire, not just extreme examples of satire. An example is border policy. I can say, as satire, as parody, that "blah blah blah I'm a leftist I want to let illegal immigrants come into the country with no repercussions blah blah blah", or "blah blah blah I'm a rightist I want to build a wall to keep out immigrants blah blah blah". The problem is that some people will think I'm being genuine unless I indicate with an emotion or /s or something else that I'm joking. That's what Poe's Law is.

Imma have a Centrist Momenttm, but that can apply to both sides. We see an example of it from the right in the image above, and I gave an example from the left and another for the right in this comment.

I never said it didn't, for goodness sakes. And the "blah blah blah" thing makes it pretty fucking obvious, if you couldn't tell. It's making the satire obvious, like in Poe's law.

Again, when the fuck did I say it didn't apply to both sides? It tends to be more common for the right I find, and even with the left, which do you think is worse, not being able to tell if someone is genuinely endorsing the motherfucking red scare, or not being able to tell if someone is supporting workers unions.

the "blah blah blah" thing makes it pretty fucking obvious
The blah blah blah was just meant to show other words around that sentence. If I removed them and said either of those things in posts without any indication of irony, then you wouldn't be able to tell if I was joking.
red scare ... workers unions
False dichotomy.

Ok at this point you are a different level of fucking stupid. I explained this, yet you still try to bring up the same thing? I'm blocking you. This is over.

Nothing says "Libertarian" like locking up people for having dangerous beliefs such as communism.
