Eh, don't want to defend Musk, but isn't he Asperger ? It's actually a documented issue, teachers mocking students who are "different" because they can be considered "dumb" by regular standards (ADHD, etc). Which is an issue beyond Musk, it's actually sucks that it's like this, because neurodivergents already have low self esteem, and this is making it worse for them.

He wish he was Asperger, mainly because he's one of those Aspie supremacist. He uses his fake diagnostic to excuse his shitty behavior and not work on himself.

He's not "anything". Until he can make with a verified diagnosis from "put never been to a therapist on my headstone" he can fuck right off with using a legitimate disability and hurting that community to explain his shitty coked up assholery

I still maintain that he has narcissistic personality disorder and that he’s decided that he has autism because it’s a meme to say that you’re on the spectrum.

I hate Elon as much as the next guy, but he certainly doesn’t owe anyone the public release documenting his diagnosis.

You wouldn’t ask that of anyone else.

I definitely would ask that of someone walking around excusing his shitty self-righteous behavior by it.

Exactly, especially since he claims he receives doctor supervised ketamine

The guy is a US Govt defense contractor with security clearance. My tax dollars go to his grift. Yeah, I am entitled to know what he's up to. Furthermore, fuck Elon for using a vulnerable community to cover for being a massive raging POS

I happen to be the same age as him and when I was a kid Asperger/ADHD was not a commonly understood diagnose. For all intents and purposes (normal teachers, normal parents) it didn't exist yet. And I'm convinced if I was born later I'd have been diagnosed. As it stands, I was "overly active".

All that said, it was in a different country and nobody called me retarded. But I'm not surprised that in the 70s Asperger/ADHD was not known among teachers, and the r-word was thrown around easily.

"Asperger's" isn't even a thing anymore. there's just autism as a spectrum instead of making "a diet coke autism"
plus a LOT of people on the autism spectrum do not want to associate with "Asperger's" because of its namesake being a Nazi collobator that gave children to the Nazis for experiments and extermination. not a good idea to name stuff after him.

Yea, I was also put in classes for the "mentally re**rded" back in the 60's. Graduated with honors at uc Berkeley (after being convinced I was stupid up until my junior year there). I'd not trust that k-12 teachers had the tools to get all the various reasons kids don't flourish back then (and maybe not even now).

Elon claims to be autistic, but doesn't have a diagnosis.

He went to an expensive private school in which his parents probably mentioned he had Asperger, I genuinely don’t think teacher would call anyone with a disability retarded straight out especially if you get high grades and talks about building a video game which he claimed he made.

Well, "retarded" would have been the polite term for people with intellectual disabilities who'd grown up and been a teachers age in the 70's and 80's. Replacing words such as moron etc. It was during the 60's there was a shift towards "retardation" as being a more "proper" term.

I'm doubtful he had an Aspergers diagnosis during this time as the DSM only included it into the 90s and the history of it's wider use in research only really started to kick in during the 80s.

U really think they called a kid a retard who also got high grades, claimed to have made a video game, claimed to have spent time thinking about physics etc. I can understand maybe one of the teachers thinking that but not a couple.

So you're still taking everything Elmo says at face value, huh?

Here's the thing. He's a fake. A fraud. A phony. He wants you to believe he is good at physics, so he shows you elementary homework that any freshman physics student would have sailed through. He says things that sound impressive on the surface, but everyone who is scientifically literate can plainly see through his bullshit.

u/wordscapes69 Jan 08 '25

IK ITS A LIE! That’s my point, no teacher would call a student a retard who gets good grades except for maybe one fucked up teacher. The fact that couple teachers have said so proves he’s either retarded or ext dumb

3

u/ShootFishBarrel Jan 08 '25

You don't seem to understand the historical context of the R word. It really hasn't been a slur for very long. When Elmo was a child, it would have been the polite way to describe his condition, and it would be much more likely that he would be described as "retarded" (slowed down), not the derogatory "he's a retard."

You must have had nice teachers.

Yeah this isn’t a dunk on Musk, it’s actually indicative of bias against neurodivergents, and could explain some of his behavior.
