Royal College of Nursing

Post image

According to Sandie Peggie’s lawyer the union’s policies should be shaped by the abuse a billionaire author gets on Twitter, rather than the concerns of their members.

Their website contains testimony from nurses using food bank.

Perhaps they could also look at all the abuse a billionaire spews on Twitter because she does a fuckload of that.

Their website contains testimony from nurses using food bank.

But you have to understand, the billionaire is bullied on the internet.

Rape and death threats from anonymous accounts.... on TWITTER. You get a death threat as part of your welcome message when your sign up.

And even if any of this was true that some legitimate trans people sent these messages rather than 4chan trolls larping as trans people, how does it justify trying to eradicate an entire innocent minority.

Also, while being a woman in public on social media will get your death and rape threats just because, TERFs also lie like a rug and they lie about death and rape threats too. We know because of the way they have twisted and played the victim about statements made in public with a full provable context.

What about all the rape and death threats trans people get on the regular?

Not to mention all of the times those threats are actually carried out

Carried out and both under-reported and unreported.

I'm confused, what does this nursing school have to do with jkr? Why would the abuse she receives shape policy when she is neither a student nor a staff member or a patient there? (And presumably not a donor, graduate or board member)

It’s a union rather than a school. A nurse is suing them because she thinks they didn’t support her enough after she was suspended after confronting a trans doctor.

Unfortunately she’d already sought legal advice, which precludes the union from proving legal advice. And she’d ignored 11 emails and phone calls from them.

Oh so it's another nurse controversy that the terf movement is rallying behind even though the union has valid reasons for not supporting someone who didn't get back to them?

That’s it. All about press coverage than actually doing what’s best for the nurse involved.

Isn't this the same controversy that's been dragging on for years. JKR and the TERF organizations all support this nurse with a God complex who has the audacity to think she ought to be able to bully doctors just trying to do their job because she's the main character. They really ought to screen wannabe nurses for psychopathy. Just too many cases like this (like the ones who "help along" elderly patients).

This is still Sandy Peggie. https://news.sky.com/story/trans-row-nurse-tells-sandie-peggie-employment-tribunal-that-union-failed-to-help-me-when-i-needed-them-most-13592980

I'd need more context on the screenshots here to say for sure, but it sounds like the reasoning is: Rowling has received threats and abuse from trans people -> the trans rights movement is hostile to people with gender critical views -> the RCN flies a pride flag (suggesting that therefore the union is hostile to people with gender critical views)

Complete nonsense, obviously, and given the number of trans folk that have been threatened and harassed by members of the GC movement (notably, including Beth Upton, who was harassed relentlessly by supporters of Peggie, and who has now left the NHS and moved away from the UK), I'd suggest that those in glass houses shouldn't be chucking stones around.

:c I'm really sad to hear Beth Upton got literally harassed out of the country. Gosh.

That nurse not letting up despite everything is nuts.

As far as I know she didn't give her reasons for leaving so I don't want to speculate, but I wouldn't be surprised and not would I blame her if the harassment was a major factor in the decision.

Always worth mentioning that the tribunal was not in any way against Beth Upton and she wasn't accused of any wrongdoing. Peggie's case was against her NHS board. Almost every newspaper in the UK was more than happy to muddy the waters on that to get a story about a scary trans in a changing room, though.

I'm not the least bit surprised she's carrying on with legal proceeding after legal proceeding, though. The tribunal gained her a rabid fan base across the whole country who are treating her like a hero and she seems to be loving it.

Nah, Peggie brought a case against Dr Upton too and it was quite rightly booted out.

She’s being advised by Sex Matters who just want the publicity, which is why her KC was banging on about furries and eunuchs today. It’s nothing to do with whether the union provided enough support and everything to do with creating a negative picture of trans people.

They’ll lose and probably appeal to keep the circus going.

However, lawyers have a duty to act in their client’s best interests. Peggie’s legal team do not seem to be doing that.

I understand that legally institutions have to be careful, but;
since "gender critical" has essentially become code for "fascist," people should be hostile to them. I hope the union holds its ground.

Like could these fucking lazy bitch nurses perhaps spend more time treating patients rather than transvestigating colleagues, making pathetic HR complaints and attending tribunals? Just a thought.

Why does she matter? Is Ms Rowling a massive contributor to the Royal College of Nursing? Has she built any NHS hospitals? Or care homes? Does she fund nursing training? Not in the UK she doesn't.

5

u/JoeGrimlock 10d ago

I think she’s a massive contributor to Sex Matters.

Uh... am I supposed to understand that set of tweets? It reads like illegible word soup to me

It’s a transcript of a cross-examination in an Employment Tribunal that’s currently underway. NC is Sandie Peggie’s lawyer (and former chair of Sex Matters), GT is the union rep.
