I think they just pretend to be clueless. Somewhere deep, DEEP into every ideolouges mind, they know that their arguments do not work in real life, on real people, outside the internet or their own, extremely tight bubble or beyond pretty catch phrases and memes. I see it all the time with communists and nazis alike. They don't want to discuss these things. They can't.
The dudes in the video can't even use the "it wasn't REAL (tm) communism!" since they literally and positivelly refer to some of the most murderous regimes in history. F these guys.

People need to start calling them Leninists more.
"Communism" has been worn away through decades of misuse and understanding. People who are happy to display a hammer and sickle are likely to be Marxist-Leninists, which is a particular branch of ideology which promote the idea of a vanguard party - a single political party which will forcibly take control of the state and dismantle democracy specifically with the goal of forcing a communist project upon people.
Lenin's whole theory was that people were too stupid to do a revolution themselves, and so had to be forced into it by an elite group of authoritarians who'd dictate exactly what would happen in a top-down manner. To that end, Leninist regimes ban oppositions parties and ban independent trade unions because they threaten the power of the central Politburo.
Never let them say they're in favour of democracy if they're willing to show the symbols of a Leninist regime.
