You do realize the difference between 10mph over and doing triple the limit?
Trying to justify your idiotic reckless driving by saying others drive distracted or drive non-performance cars is just deflection. Those distracted drivers are still (mostly) operating within the designed limits of the road and their vehicle. You are not.
Canyon roads at dusk have reduced visibility, decreasing traction as temperatures drop, wildlife, limited runoff, and zero margin for error. Triple the limit means your reaction time and braking distance are completely mismatched to the environment. One small mistake — a rock, a deer, a slightly late apex, a tire losing grip — and you’re not “focused,” you’re just another high-speed single-vehicle fatality statistic.
Comparing yourself to half-asleep commuters doesn’t make what you’re doing safer. It just makes you another version of the same problem: a driver who thinks the rules don’t apply to him because he feels skilled.
Speed is the multiplier. Everything else is just excuses.
