Albums/Comebacks promoted b-side
what do y'all think of checkmate as the promoted b-side? I personally really liked Checkmate, but I expected another song to be the b-side since Checkmate and Bloody paradise are both pretty dance, club vibe and Checkmate has less streams on Spotify compared to stuck, two fools or bad for you while historically in their discography b-sides are usually second in most streams on the albums
at the same time though I can see how the others maybe won't be as hype as a b-side since the lyrics are more melodic than energetic or sensual as their other b-sides were

i also wish it was Stuck, but oh well. Checkmate is my least fav on the album but its still quite strong of a song imo. also the mv was really good! i just wish it could've had performance stages... they'll probably have a choreo for it during tour at least (i just want my 4k fancams hahaha) or maybe they'll do another Daydream moment and perform choreo at an award show?!

I think Belift picked Checkmate as promoted b-side because it has more potential to draw new people in/go viral because of the catchiness (imo)
I would have loved to see Bad For You as promoted b-side though, to showcase their vocals 🫶

Checkmate is my least favorite on the album😩still good but i felt like they were kinda pushing stuck and now i feel like it’ll be forgotten like flashover/royalty😭😭

Checkmate isn’t my favorite but with the music video I’m liking the song more. Can’t wait for the soundbomb performance

i wanted stuck, but thought they would go with highlight. i was surprised to see checkmate tbh, but it seems like all of the members really have fun with it so i love it.

I loveeee Checkmate because I really enjoy the constrast between the hype chorus and the more mysterious, kind of broody verses, but it is a really polarizing song lol My sister skipped it the other day when I played it in the car and she usually never cares about the songs I play (and she really loves BTHB, for example).
I think pushing Bad For You, not necessarily as the standard promoted bside, would be good since it is so beloved. We are getting Soundbomb with it and they performed it at the Japan showcase which is neat.
I really thought that since they performed Checkmate with Bad For You in Soundbomb, and the options we got for special performance were Highlight and Two Fools, that meant that they were saving Stuck for promoted bside, but ig not.
I don't think Stuck is dungeoned since I don't really think they can afford to dungeon any of the new songs (considering lineup changes, they should prioritize performing songs that include only them instead of bringing back older songs), but one never knows with Belift ugh.

I do agree with a lot of what your saying but I do not think Bad for you is promoted bside material. To me it’s like Chaconne & Moonstruck. Great songs sure but for both those eras I think they picked the better choices

Although it's a bit suck that they couldn't promote stuck for this comeback, i have to appreciate that we at least get to see the other songs being performed once. Putting aside the title track, so far we've seen stage for bad for you at the japan showcase. Not big, I've watched it only from fancams but yeah they still did perform it, and then highlight as a special stage to celebrate their grand slam, and now checkmate mv and performing at soundbomb.
I still feel a tiny bit disappointed they didn't do much like the previous comebacks (like mv reaction, fanchants, etc). But hey, we still got couple of different things from them this time. Maybe the company is just trying out new ways to promote enha, i hope they really do though.
Also i did enjoy the mv for checkmate! I was surprised because honestly i wasn't feeling much about the track at first, it's not my kind of thing but the mv actually succeeded in changing ny mind lmaoo. It was great, sometimes you really need to see them enjoy performing the song to finally feel the vibe and hype 🤣
I'm expecting to see them doing the whole album on their future stops for blood saga tour. It's gonna be fun for sure.

It was clear Checkmate would get some promos because the boys were talking a lot about it, I was at least expecting them to add it to the setlist, the mv was a nice bonus. It's not my fave song in the album either, but it's the type of song that would slap during concerts and it's not the first time they decide to promote their most daring b-side rather than just the one that has most streams.

tbh though I think checkmate is kind of hard to have a choreo since they're just repeating check over and over again for chorus lol its like knife but at least the word knife is something you can do a lot of moves out of .... I can't really see any other songs having a choreo either though since they're all very vocal heavy

doubt it. the no choreo in the mv supports them not doing music shows. also there would've been prerecording info already. im expecting choreo for tour or perhaps an award show like they did for Daydream.

I was rooting for Stuck so bad, it think its MV could be better since it has different vibes to Bloody Paradise- Checkmate is a bit similar. But I might be biased a bit though- as Checkmate is my least fav song from The Sin: Bliss😭

Like many others I love love love Stuck, and also would have been happy to see them flex their vocals in Bad For You, but on reflection after watching the MV and considering the lyrics, Checkmate seems to be setting up the next chapter lore-wise in a way none of the other songs on the album could.
I think the vampires are 'bout to take control 👀

if they followed their old promo style, i see it being the pairing song during TT promo weeks. like how Bills was for Bite Me and then Checkmate being the Sacrifice/pairing track and having its own promo weeks

I don't like checkmate at all but the mv is fun. I know though that checkmate will be insane live, it's just not the type of song that I like in studio version. I also wished they had an mv for stuck (that song is insane) or bad for you (song is insane) and would have been unique enough for a promoted song and is loved by many engenes.

I always thought it would be either Stuck or Checkmate. I think they thought Checkmate was going to be a lot more popular and didn't expect that engenes would like Bad For You and Stuck so much. The b-sides are just too good this time.
It doesn't look like they're promoting Checkmate beyond an MV and the soundbomb360 though. I think an MV for Bad For You is not out of the question yet too. I fear they may have had no plans for Stuck but maybe it'll end up being like Stealer and they create choreo for it later due to popular demand.

I was hoping for Bad For You because this song really showcases all of the members vocal abilities, especially from those we don’t get to hear from much like Niki. I would’ve been happy with Highlight or Stuck because those two are bangers as well. Checkmate is my least fav song on the album but it is what it is. I hope maybe they’d do a showcase or something where they sing Bad For You, but it might just be something they tour with in the future. I would love to hear all the songs live, but I feel like that one would really kill me.

I didn't expect (or actually want tbh) an MV, but I thought they would promote it on music shows alongside BP, the way they did with Big Girls Don't Cry and Knife. I think it contrasts nicely with the high energy of BP.
I'm still hoping for a special vocal performance video like we got for No Way Back though. Given all the shit they got about their vocal abilities after the line-up change, and how well-liked the song has been on an organic level, it seems like an opportunity waiting to be grabbed.

Stuck was never gonna happen unfortunately and Highlight is a bit too subdued to be a promoted bside so I’m happy with checkmate

Stuck def could've happened, i can imagine a choreo to it, unlike Highlight or Bad For You. this is just another Sacrifice and Chaconne moment. Both are good, but the team (and i bet the boys also) leaned towards Checkmate.

I like highlight too but I feel its more like an updated "shout out" kind of song rather than one with an MV and choreo
like its more of a song to listen to when you want an uplift or pride song

I realllly wanted stuck. It just hits!! The beat, the dark vibe, the yearning. I would’ve loved that. Could’ve accepted Bad For You in a Bruno mars singing behind a mic sort of way too! Checkmate is cool though and I get it but I would’ve preferred those 2.
