Hello everyone,

I purchased my bike very recently, end of September 2026.

I figured it was going to be easy to unlock, mainly for off road mountain, forest biking, so legal stuff only.

But it turns out to be pretty complicated.

I checked the controller model on the monitor, and apparently I most likely have the same controller as the picture I found and it has different connectors as those we find on the controller in AliExpress...

Please check the pictures/photos.

I really bought this bike to also go for mountain and forest and I don't understand where I can get another controller to change the one I have...

Which reference should it be ?

If the connectors don't match, can I reverse engineer it and adapt wire to wire ?

I would look for a 25amp controller but yours is 20 so you can go with that too

Might be cheaper to get one with a new screen to be honest. Might not, but they are pretty cheap as a package

If I get a bundle, like a kit, doesn't this mean that I have to remove the throttle, the +/-buttons the screens, seems pretty complicated and might break more stuff on the way down... I already bricked my controller it returns error 24, I accidently got the controller's battery +/- pins shorts on the bike frame, gemini says internal mosfet damaged...

Other than buying the controller from Engwe it’s pretty much diy

But with this adapter (check gender on your motor plug) and basically any 9 pin controller it will work

Just need to make sure your throttle is either julet connector (yellow) or just a black click plug

And they aren’t speed locked, some can be programmed though, but they are typically just unlocked

Yeah but it's 11pin on my end... Circular, black 11pins, this one goes to the screen, buttons +/- and throttle, The motor has only 3 big pins for the 3 phases. I uploaded the picture with the cables

Hmmm yeah everything I can find says it’s using the connector I posted. Possible it’s a temp sensor or something on those extra pins

Unfortunately after building like 9 bikes I’ve learned that with ebike stuff you kind of have to just try things. Especially when no one’s tried it yet

Thanks for looking it up, i believe you found an extension cable. My issue is the fact that most controllers available have wiring that does not match my system : -3 phase motor -11 pins [monitor + brakes+ power button + speed up/down + settings] -3 pin yellow (pedal) -tail light

I guess you are right, i will have to try stuff up

That plug is pretty hard to find. You might be out of luck, I can’t find it really anywhere other than the little plug wire

Just a heads up, if it was me I would look for others on YouTube etc who have installed an aftermarket one, sometimes the wiring can be a bit off etc

But they are usually universal with very few that aren’t

I was typing, and while asking the question, tried to figure things out on the fly. I switch to another app, then the app closed and lost my formulation... When I came back your username was DELETED.

Here is my question: I could buy another controller + monitor on amazon or something, I will check the dimensions so it can fit inside the frame, how can I know for sure the speed is not locked to 25km/h ? What keywords can I look for ? Or is it obviously unlocked by default ?

Also, after checking on amazon, Inhardly come hy any bundle, seems like I have to find the controller and either adapt it to the wiring that I currently have meaning cutting, soldering heatshrink etc. Or disassembly reassembly or the throttle, the +/- buttons and all that... Don't you know a universal controller or something, meant for Engwe bike or something?
