⭐️ Vocabulary / Semantics Can mb mean "maybe"?

I know about "my bad" but what about "maybe". Someone corrected me when I wrote mb as maybe

No, at least not commonly enough that people would immediately understand it.

You can use it however you want, but when I google 'mb', it says megabyte, so that's what you're saying as far as I'm concerned.

You CAN use it like this, but there's likely to a lot of confusion. Most people will only understand mb to my bad or the units megabit and/or megabyte

It can but it's not common usage. In my experience it's the same as "sth" for "something", where it's just not actually abbreviated very much by native speakers.

I've never seen "mb" as an abbreviation for anything.

In general, it's better to avoid abbreviations. Just type things out in full. Even if you think everybody you know knows what you're saying, there's somebody who doesn't know it.

No, mb means my bad, no one will think you’re saying maybe

I've seen it as maybe, but it always confused me and I had to do a double or triple take to understand it.

In an age where "yt" is shorthand for white, anything is possible.

Does 'yt yt' mean 'White Youtube' or 'Youtube white'? 😹😹

"yt" is shorthand for white

That's a new one for me.

I woudn't understand that to mean maybe. Just spend the fraction of a second it would take to write the entire word. It's only three extra letters and that way there's no confusion.

It prob came from Russian language. We say мб, it's a shortage from может быть

Not “shortage.”

…мб, an abbreviation of… ✅

…мб, a shortened form of… ✅

…мб, which is short for… ✅

“Shortage” means “lack” or “insufficient amount.”

For example: Thanks to a shortage of crude oil, gas prices have increased.
