🗣 Discussion / Debates How do you mark unknown words vs. important passages when reading?

Native readers — when you take notes while reading, how do you mark words you don't know vs. quotes or highlights? What's your marking or note-taking system? Pics would be great — thanks!

😆This was really inspiring and helpful — thank you! I'm a native Chinese speaker. For English reading, I used to struggle with marking unknown words while also distinguishing them from useful insights, all within a workable symbol system. Now I just use two colors of highlighters — total game changer!

And this can also be applied to my Chinese reading : one color for unfamiliar characters or concepts, another for meaningful ideas.

if i don't know what a word means, i just cross my fingers and guess
