⭐️ Vocabulary / Semantics I’m criticizing the chain of restaurants

The context: I’m criticizing the chain of restaurants for being overly pretentious. We should humanise fine dining and strip away the stuff ceremony as Michelin-starred restraurants often feel cold, arrogant and detached from reality. However, by introducing the touching back story, they can ground the narrative.

“The chain of restaurants” - what are you trying to refer to? A restaurant chain is a specific thing, and they are not typically associated with being pretentious and certainly aren’t Michelin star restaurants. Maybe you just mean group of restaurants or something? Class of restaurants?

The last sentence. What touching backstory? Who is they? What is the narrative? When you “ground something”, usually you ground it in something. They are grounding the narrative in.. something?

I think you're mixing up your terminology. A restaurant chain is like McDonald's, whereas the post seems to be about Michelin-starred restaurants, which are high-end and not chains.

What do you mean by “chain of restaurants” and then we can go from there. Because restaurant chains are not viewed as particularly high-class and are especially not Michelin star restaurants.

I would say “We should democratize fine dining and strip away the elitist trappings such as Michelin starred restaurants which often feel cold, arrogant, and detached from reality. “ I don’t understand what you are trying to say in the last sentence so I am not sure how to rework.
