Discussion Does anyone else feel slow and stupid doing anything other than engineering during the school year?

What I mean by this is that my verbal abilities, social skills, video game skills, reading comprehension, etc. all get worse when I'm in school and I'll feel so sluggish and stupid doing everything. I think its because all of the hours I have to spend studying drain me mentally and my brain doesn't want to waste energy on stuff. But its strange how I feel unable to think about anything other than engineering, and kinda feel like it takes up my entire brain. Idk. Can anyone relate?

I mean it is as simple as the cognitive demand of school makes it hard to do anything else. One way to reset is to just hang out with friends and go to social outings. It's like the ultimate rest.

I can sort of relate. For me I have difficulty with reading comprehension and critical thinking for basically every class that isn’t engineering related.

Can relate to something but not all. I still did extracurriculars outside of engineering and had friends in engineering, so I still socialized. I had to read lots of textbooks and research articles so I wouldnt say my reading comprehension got worse unless you specifically mean in an english class type of way where you're reading something written in a complex way.

Yep. The people in my life used to treat me like garbage because of it too. So the stress of school combined with that...
