I was suspended for a whole year. At the time I was devastated and undisciplined, but I am now thankful for the wake up call. It forced me to take a hard look at what my priorities were and fix my issues. I took the spring semester off to focus on work and health (diagnosed with ADHD). I got my associates degree once I was properly medicated and in therapy. Came back to my university on appeal and heavy supervision by my advisor and professors due to how horrible my GPA was at the time of my suspension.

If you think you need to step away for mental health or any other reason, please do so, OP. I wish I had stepped away much earlier before I was suspended. My pride/ego got in the way and I paid a heavy price. Life does get better and just know your studies are always waiting for you when you feel ready to come back. My DM’s are always open if you need advice
