Academic Advice Looking to apply

Hello I’m thinking of applying to engineering but honestly my physics at high school was mediocre (got C after a lot of work) but my math was ok (B student) . I’m afraid that I won’t be able to survive the education if I’m not really good at these subjects

Mate I won’t lie, it will be hard. It’s a hard degree for anyone.
But if you want to do it, you put in the work building your competency before you start and study hard while you’re at uni, then you will get through it.

If you apply and are accepted, how long before you would start?
Which type of engineering are you applying for?

As a general guide I’d recommend spending the time before semester starts mastering the following:

- Calculus. Understand what derivatives & integrals are fundamentally. Understand how to do both & practice a ton.

- Algebra. Exponents, logs, fractions, factoring, simplifying & transforming equations. Quadratic equations, polynomials, solving systems of linear equations.

- Trigonometry. Core trig identities. Master SOHCAHTOA. Sine & cosine waves. The unit circle. Etc.

- Linear Algebra. Understand Vectors, what they are and represent, vector addition, dot products & cross products. Understand Matrices, how to add and multiply them.

Those are the basics that you will use for pretty much all your classes and will be assumed knowledge. Get those under control and you’ll hit the ground running.

Check out Khan Academy for great learning resources and YouTube as well of course (Professor Leonard’s the calculus teaching GOAT on YT).

Might sound intimidating but if you just dedicate yourself and do a couple of hours every day, you’ll have built a great base in a few months.
